Tractor
Kubota B2650
Just took delivery of my B2650 on Friday. I spent a lot of time and research before landing on the 2650 and am very happy with the tractor and it's abilities, think it's going to be perfect for me.

That said, a few things with the tractor upon arrival disappointed me a little and am wondering if these are "normal" things when buying a tractor and curious about anyone else's experiences. I understand tractors are not like cars, and instead probably best viewed as a tool. Either way I'm fine with it as is and have no intention of returning it or asking for some type of compensation, I just wish it was me that had initiated it, not someone else. I did look at a 2650 in person and test drove at the dealer, however, I don't know if this is the specific unit I looked at.

1. Loader bucket is tweaked about 1/2" near the middle.
2. Box scraper purchased at same time is not painted orange. Very disappointed about this one.
3. Valves added by dealer were zip tied (which is fine) but not trimmed off. Yes, this is probably being very picky but it shows me lack of attention to detail.
4. A few scratches on the hood, probably from fueling hose being dragged across it. Two big areas in pics below are reflections, scratches look yellow.
5. Unit as delivered was "Arizona dirty" (dusty and dried rain splatter). Again picky, it cleaned up very nicely, but attention to detail. Would have expected dealer to give it a quick wipe before delivery.

#1 and #2 are the only ones I'd consider calling the dealer back and asking about.

Last pic is a beauty shot. Love it!

Land Pride offers implements in their standard color, pictured, and in tractor manufacturer's colors, especially Kubota Orange. I would insist on Kubota Orange.

Re: scratches. I've seen a few threads about this kind of stuff. My view is that if you're the kind of person who parks your tractor outside in the rain and expects a few bangs and bruises as you use it, then whether it comes with a couple of rust spots and scratches or you put them on the first day you drive it makes little difference.

But if you're the kind of person that parks it under cover, is careful with what you do to not scratch it, maybe polishes it up once in a while to look shiny, then absolutely tell them you want a new one, not one that's sat around in their yard. And you want one without scratches.

I guess if you've already got it then it's a decision how much you care (can you live without your new tractor for 2 weeks while they replace it with a better one?) When I first got mine I was really careful with it, but once I used the bucket a few times, had something fall out of the bucket onto the tractor, and generally realised that if I used it like a tool it'd get a few bruises on it....I decided that I could live with it.

Good looking tractor by the way - I only have a BX and I always wanted a B. My property's not really big enough to justify it though.

#1 Looks fine to me. It's a loader, it is a welded assembly, it is not going to be PERFECTLY square, and it is going to bend as you use it. Add a tooth bar or a Piranha bar to it to add strength to the front digging edge, otherwise you'll really put a bow in it and likely get all freaked out claiming that the bucket is cheap/junk.

#2 This would bother me and I would ask them to swap it with an orange version. They can be ordered in orange, and a Kubota dealer (you would think) would stock them in orange.

#3 Those zip ties have a little release lever on them and are re-usable. You typically do not cut that style. They did it correctly. You can cut them, but it makes it more difficult to insert them into the latching mechanism.

#4 Would bother me, but I doubt I would do anything about it because my B2650 is now 5 months old and trust me.... there are a lot more scratches on it than those 2 little ones. It would still bother me that it came pre scratched, but if you use it as a work tool, it is going to get a heck of a lot more scratches!

#5 Would not bother me. I hose the heavy mud and dirt off, but it is a tractor. I do not spend much energy worrying about how shiny and clean my dirt tool is. Grease it a lot more than you wash it and all will be good.

Did you purchase tractor NEW or USED? Did you inspect the tractor at dealer premise before purchase?

If NEW complaints 1, 2 and 4 are valid. Number 2 and 3 are impermissible sloppy work. I would not have confidence in dealer's ability to provide post-purchase maintenance service.

Hard for me to believe a dealer would send a yellow Land Pride Box Blade with a Kubota. My wife insists that most frequently used implements match the tractor.

(I waxed my inside-stored tractor this week.)

Only #2 would bother me. The rest, not so much.

When I got my BX23S, I cleaned it up good. The first time I took it into the woods, the bucket was scratched. The BackHoe looks like it has been used hard (it has), and the Slow Moving sign is all scratched and beat up. Basically what I am saying is that it is a tractor. If you use it as a tractor, it will get scratched and dirty. My EA Grapple looks like it is several years old... but I only got it last year. I am pretty sure he FEL bucket is not perfect anymore. That happens when you try to push tree stumps with it. :p

My wife puts it this way. You bought a tractor, not a lawn mower. If you are afraid to get it scratched and dirty, you probably shouldn't have gotten it. It's like buying a pick-up and not hauling anything in the box because you don't want to scratch it. ;)

My B2650 is working for at least a few hours a day now that construction is starting to go full swing and I'm getting 10+ triaxles of fill each day to manage. I'll likely wash the tractor in November when the construction work stops around here for winter. My 5 month old tractor has over 100 hours on it and there isn't much paint on the bucket, the bucket vertical side plates are rested and deformed, the tires have multiple plugs in them, the wheels are gouged up, the tires have slices in the bars, and the tractor looks like it's years old with just a tick over 100 hours on the meter. I bought it to do work, and work is what it does!

I don't purposely scratch or dent my tractor, but it's a tractor to me and not a show car. I guess we all have different feelings on that subject, some want a tractor to look new and keep it clean and whatnot. I don't have time for that, the machine works every day and there is no point in trying to chase after dirt. My loader bucket is a wear item, I'll plate it as it wears and replace it if it gets too far gone. But I spent the money on it because I want it to do trail maintenance, cut grass and I have around 60,000 yards of material coming this summer. Yes, around 2,700 triaxle loads. I may not be able to take it all, but while it's coming for free, I'm taking all I can!

I put the pirhana bar on the loader to help keep it from bending. You really may want to consider something similar. It's very thick steel plate, so it will make your leading edge much much more resistant to bending. IMG_20180511_113355438.jpegIMG_20180324_134816339.jpeg

Well - lets see. My tractor is a Kubota M6040 - so its orange. My Rhino 950 rear blade is red & black - my Land Pride rear blade is tan & black - my Wallenstein BX62S is some shade of orange, my single bottom plow is multi-color - my Bush Hog ROBB is yellow - my disk harrow is mainly rusty looking. Do I have pride in my tractor and implements - MOST DEFINITELY. Do I care what COLOR they are - H-E-L-L NO.

My tractor and implements are on my property to do a job - I have no plans to enter them in a beauty pageant or parade. I do not wax my tractor or implements. I DO wash them when they get dirty or have impacted dirt.

Who will see my "not waxed" tractor - the local wildlife, overflying birds, those who may trespass and end up in my yard. I guess the point being - my tractor does not sit in my driveway in an urban neighborhood and have to impress anybody. I AM IMPRESSED by the work I'm able to accomplish with it - not the shine.

Agree, the zip ties are normal and this type should not be trimmed.

My 2009 M6040 came to me, new, with black zip ties all over it. I've added a few more. If the OP's ties are like mine - they can be adjusted and if you nip them off - you will have nothing to hold on to. Plus they are pretty heavy duty and if you nip them off and leave a short stub - its always there waiting to rip you if you get too close.
