Yet the batteries keep getting cheaper. Part of the price rise is supposed to be because of the Chinese control of many of the mines and production. Flip side is that companies are looking to open Lithium mines in other places, such as in the old mines in Cornwall England and Germany.

Everything I read from people installing LiFePo batteries on boats is that the prices are falling and are expected to continue to fall.

There is nothing to perfect in hydrogen fuel cells , they work very well . Btw tell us about the source of H2, H2 storage and transportation of the H2

I only used the h2 fuel cell as an example source of portable energy...As for "source, storage and transportation"...they would all fall under the term "major advancements"...

Besides advancements to existing technology there is also the endeavors to find new (and unexplored) technologies using little known or currently available rare elements...like He3 !

The entire point of my original comment was a "counter point" to the topic...
If you are unfamiliar with the source, transportation and storage of hydrogen...I suggest using a search engine...there is lots of information available...

My point was and still is...when it comes to "new technology"...the future is about new power sources...not power storage (batteries)...

Again...my examples are just that "examples"...NOT fixations...!

If I have to spell it out . Compressing H2 into high strength pressure vessels wastes a lot of energy . The pressure vessels are not cheap and require regular inspection/testing .
. H2 is a small molecule and creaps through any pressure vessel wall.
Hydride storage is heavy in weight and low in energy density .
H2 is expensive to split from water .
There are no other ways to store or manufacture H2.

Sure. Chinese wages are rising and they do have benefits, including retirement. Job site safety and pollution controls is non existent from what I have seen personally. But that is a moot point and a red herring since many/most lead acid batteries are produced in China.

The Germans think they will be able to build Li batteries in Germany to be price competitive to China.

US Batteries are made in several places in the US

I'm sure there are others...

I worked at Hitachi before retiring due to health reasons. I worked in the Health Safety and Enviromental Dept.
Battery production was getting underway at our plant and we had to set up safety protocols and disposal programs. The disposal companies had to know what they were getting rid of, when we questioned the engineering group they were very hesitant to give any info about the batteries makeup. Finally they told us the basic compounds. They said that almost everyones batteries had the same basic compounds, but the magic was in the percentages and construction. Each and every combo has to be extensively tested and this takes time. I remember a lot of bad batteries and pictures of explosions that had happened at other facilities. So in response to the naysayers, all of the combinations and construction variations have not been tried or the R&D facilities at these companies would have shut down.
To give you an example as I sit here at the Cancer Center with my great aunt she is in remission due to a relatively new drug. The Dr. told us a couple of years ago she would have already died.
So no, what God has given us is all we have and the basics will never be changed. Its the miriad untold combinations that has as of yet been tried that will hold hope.
