Looking for any advice $ vs use of adding a BH90 Backhoe to my 3830HST. Seen a guy with a lil CK 20 Kioti dig a 3' diameter sycamore stump out this weekend for my neighbor, I thought now I need that! I know you need a subframe and I think you lose a lot of the three point hitch capability or do you? Just looking to hear from anybody who has gone this route for do's and dont's and cost for adding one of these. Last parting shot.....with current diesel prices /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif thank god for the Kubota's economy /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif!! Wish my F350 got as good!

Hi. I have a few machines, the CK20TLB gets a ton of work done for me as well. Id say go for the BH for your machine. Without a doubt Id say you need the subframe. You wont lose your 3pt functions at all. The beauty of a subframe mount BH is that they GENERALLY (each brand slightly different) come off by releasing 2 pins and uncoupling two hoses... Thats it, drive away and hook up your 3pt arms to drag your tiller, boxblade, etc. Take care.

Yes, I just purchases the BH90 on a L5030 and they installed in on a subframe. All you do is unlatch two levers you the outriggers to raise it out of the saddle and then disconnect the two remote lines. You then have to put your 3PH ares back on, but they pin on with and no tools required...

Great Set UP

It will do some work.

DW,
I have the BH 90 on my 2630 and it mounts by way of a subframe. Not like the usual long length subframes. The BH connects to the subframe by a 4 point connection. I can connect and disconnect the BH almost as fast as my rear blade. I havent tried it on any stumps yet but so far in this rocky ground it has done good

I believe that you have a BH75. This is a smaller BH than the BH90. It may mount the same though.

Dirt,
the utility of the 3PH remains unimpaired with the addition of the subframe. Naturally with the BH90 in place the 3PH is unusable but after the very easy BH90 dismounting the versatility of the 3PH is completely regained. There is a loss of ground clearance, the subframe hangs low, but I haven't found this to be of any hindrance.
The mid PTO is another matter. If you use or intend to use any implement coupled to the mid PTO you are in for a dissapointment. The sub frame negates use of the mid PTO entirely, it gets in the way of the implements.
I believe, may be wrong, that the presence of a loader is required to use the subframe since these items are completely tied together for maximum resistance to deflection.
The foldable ROPS is also required.
The BH90 will toss the tractor around on occasion and there will be times when the contents of your scrotum will take quite a slam back down onto the seat. I can't imagine a non subframe application would survive for long.
There have been some previous instances of BH90 self-destruction reported here on TBN. As hard as I have tried I have not been able to duplicate those type of failures.
Expect to pay somewhere around 7 big ones (retail) for the complete installation including the bucket of your choice. That's a fair amount to be able to help your neighbors save a few bucks, but the independence provided is priceless.
Pay attention and observe all precautions.
I fully endorse the use of hearing protection of some type, I use the little green plugs, and eye protection is a must when pulling up any kind of root, they can whip dirt at you.
If you currently have a trailer you need to consider the extra length and weight the BH90 constitutes.
Best of luck,
Martin
