Congratulations. So, what are the projects you have planned to do?

Well, we just moved in to a new place in December. 7+ acres, mostly wooded.

First use will most likely be snow removal (or repositioning :D). Come Spring, I need to move some dirt and level where they had to dig up the septic in the back yard (needed to install a riser to pass inspection).

After that, I'm going to use it to pull out some trees that have fallen and assist in some firewood duty.

Then I want to start to clear some less dense areas in the back. Along with this i want to consolidate a few brush pile for burning.

I have a JD mower, but will use the Bota for the steeper areas near the road.

I'm searching CL daily for a box blade and may invest in a blade of some sort as well. The carry-all will be my wood chopping rig. I may be able to borrow a brush hog from a friend.

That's the plan so far.....

congrats on your new purchase. I think a single can of diesel is all you need. those BX's really sips the fuel. When you plan on working in the woods, without the MMM, please consider a belly protection for it. Be sure to post pics of your new toy - opps I mean tractor. :D Like every one says- check the fluids: HST,front axle, engine. You need to grease up all the joints on your tractor so a grease gun is needed. be sure you read your manual on which grease to buy.

Seems like you are going to get your use out it. It's pretty exciting for you I'm sure. That tractor you are getting is a little power house. Mine amazed me at what it could do. Have fun and post some pics when you get it.

Congrats on the purchase. If you don't have a grease gun I'd get one. I found I needed some of the larger metric wrenches for changing the oil and stuff like that. If you don't do your own servicing, don't worry about it. You might want a pair of axle stands if you take your mower off and store it.

I feel I need to address Leonz post. I've never heard of anyone changing there injection timing on these things??????? I could see that causing warranty issues and its a little bit beyond a new owners ability.

Since you don't have your tractor yet, make use of the Search feature and read up on the BX. There is a lot of good information on protecting the belly and tie rod boots as well as maintenance, JOHNTHOMAS put up a really detailed post on the maintenance.

Also watch this a few times.YouTube - Removing a loader from the Kubota BX24

These are great little tractors.

Will do. I will be doing most of the maintenance myself. As long as it's not more involved than changing a wing sweep actuator on a B-1 bomber!

Looked at the one site with the skid plates, but couldn't figure out how to order/pricing.....

About the engine make sure the diesel fuel injection pump is set at zero degrees top dead center otherwise it shakes and rattles at idle and creates a lot of vibration.

They have advanced the timing on the small tractor engines to reduce the NOX and Carbon Monoxide levels and diesel particulates to satisfy the EPA's
crack down on small diesel lawn mowers.

Your tractor will have no difficulty with the injection pump timing set to zero TDC where it is SUPPOSED to be nor will starting at low idle and no higher be an issue as the new settings create huge plume of smoke on some models and you can actually hear each cylinders chugging like a JD 2 lung tractor at low idle.

I dont have any interest in reaching for your wallet, I just want you to be a happy owner and the vibration issue is well known here on the forum.

If they do not reset the injection pump timing to zero TDC you will not be a happy camper.

I agree with dodgeman. just start out slow and acquire stuff as you go along as your need arise. easier to hide cost from wifey thee boss.

As for the TDC timing stuff- perhaps leonz could post a detailed post on how it's done on th BX's with pics and instructions to show the benefits.

Congratulations, you'll find all kinds of projects to do after you have it. You'll never lose money as far as investing in buying it.It's like buying a Harley you'll always get your money back if you ever do have to sell it,a long as you take care of it. Again,Good luck.

I was just changing a wing sweeper on a B1 last week and wishing I had some help. Does it look like the picture below:)

Now that I look at your name and avatar a little more closely, I'm guessing you work on things a little bit more complicated than a BX.
