the bx 25 has 2 hydraulic dampers on the HST and the
bx24 has one. it might explain your issues with standing on it. it also has an adjustment on the return spring in hst bargoing up to transmission. look underneath and you will see it. I dont know if loosing the spring will help on yours since you have two dampers vs one on mine. its worth a try. if it doesnt work - a few mins to turn back the other way to return to where it was wont hurt it. I dont know of anyone have tried to remove the second damper , but in your case you could test on flat ground and see how it behaves . if you get adverse reaction. put it back. its only a hairpin push to put back.
now since you replaced the fan , are you planning on adding a skid plate for it? brotek has them and bxpanded.
I hear you on the fuel used compared the gasser... I was pleasantly surprised to see that too.
as for the rpm's -- i only adjust rpms for the power needed or speed or both. most of the time i run it 2500 ish for bh work and bump it 3200 if i am good with speed and no delicate work is needed. these bx are not the same as the truck diesel. the trucks are more adjusted for power. the bx is designed to run at the "rated" rpms's at 3200. I agree with the statement it should have a stop for not going over 3300 .. but if you are mowing and using rated rpms and you have a dirty filter -- pushing it higher will get you the rpms needed due to reduced fuel flow. i replaced my filter "s" and its back to normal.
Or, you could alternate between the two, and then different muscles will get used alternately.
It's not the dampener, and I tried the hook your foot under the forward lever side... Not a chance.
The problem is that when your face down a steep as F hill, it takes a tremendous amount of force on the HST lever to force the tractor to move. While it is moving, the HST is screaming for mercy... the HST does not want to move the machine until you force the issue by standing on the lever to overcome the resistance. What I am trying to say is that if I was level ground or a slight slope, sure... I could hook it, I could push with my heel... and I would not be getting sore. But I am working these trails have the front wheels bouncing off the ground and the backhoe bucket skimming the ground to catch me. It is what it is, that is my yard
But at that steep angle, GAWD DAM does that HST stubby reverse kill the leg! Pushing the forward lever while going forward up a steep hill is no issue, it's the strong part of the leg and your actually pushing yourself in to the seat versus when backing up you are standing on that stupid stubby junk and pushing your butt off of the seat.
That horrible treadle design is one of the big reasons I did not want a Kubota. I foresaw that thing as being full of suck the first time I saw it. Now that I bought a Kubota... I know that I was correct. The suck is strong on the Kubota treadle. Kioti uses a dual push pedal set up. I way desire that. The little Kubota is workable, but it's far from perfect. The Kioti has it's issue as well with the antiquated subframe backhoe, that is the major gripe I have on that. Who wants to drop the hoe in the garage and have a 4 foot subframe sticking out of your hoe taking up floor space? Kioti needs to get up with the 2005 era and redesign that.
I'm in a bad tractor mood today. It's supposed to rain for the next 10 days, so the tractor is stuck in the garage. I tried yesterday to take it out and it resulted in anger, near rolling, mud all over me and the tractor and my monster jeep that I do not like to get dirty (it's a rock crawler, not a mud bogger), winches, and pressure washing in the rain. So nature has grounded me from my new toy. Possibly until next spring. That makes me frustrated. At least I still have the Rhino, my trusty beast. I get moody when I can't play. R4 tires are useless as **** on a bull when your on clay in the rain. And tractors try to rotate while trying to go up a clay covered hill spinning tires.
I know... ag tires... chains... But then I'll really screw up my yard in mowing season.
Oh, and something odd happened yesterday. Before I got the tractor stuck sideways on a hill, I was playing a bit. I was on a fairly steep up-hill, bucket down, 2 wheel drive, low range and 2,700 RPM. I was on the HST and it would not move forward, I looked down to see the tires spinning.... but they were NOT. I let go of the HST and tried again. My heart sank, it would not spin the tires, it would not move. I moved to 4 wheel drive and I easily spun all 4 tires.... WTF? Back to 2 wheel drive... nothing. Back to 4 wheel drive.... spins all 4.
That has me freaked out a bit and I plan to test this oddity a bit more once the ground freezes or we get a few days with no rain.
