New BX25?

The plot thickens. My local Kubota dealer rang me just now to say a BX24 has arrived - after three weeks. Then he says that he can get a BX25 at the end of next week, or certainly the week after that. He gives me the option to wait for one. The price is $1000 more - Canadian dollars. He points out that the 3pt hitch things are an option at $500.

But, get this, he is convinced that the engine will be D1005 not D902.

I have today to think it over! I am building two small cabins so I am busy doing other stuff anyhow, maybe better without the new toy...

The improved gearbox is a big plus for my back problems - as is the seat, perhaps. I don't have any implements so maybe I could buy the 3pt option kit later. There's all the other small improvements too...

How come October is the timeline in the US and here July? Why the confusion over the engine??

Might be interesting to have the very latest....

Thoughts anyone?

Anyone know if the rear wheels on the BX25 will be reversible for better slope stability? I think reversible rear wheels would be a great feature.

Interesting. It seems odd that he can get a BX 25 in a few weeks when it is not even on the Kubota Website yet. I was faced with a similar choice of take the money or wait. I chose to go ahead and get the BX 24. So far, I have not found any job that would benefit from the extra HP IF the BX 25 does end up having the higher HP engine. It should be noted that all previous indications from dealers both online and my local one indicated that it would have the same engine with the most notable improvement being in the abrupt reverse stop.
I moved a huge pile of limestone last week. It took 4 hours (but I have NO FEL experience). At one point, I loaded the stone in the FEL by hand to see just how much it could handle. I was not able to successfully exceed the capacity of the FEL. I have not used the BH or MMM yet or pulled and 3 pt implement. If they all surpass my expectations like the FEL, I will be most satisfied with my decision to keep my $1000+.

From lots of BX24 observations of my next door neighbor's being used, I would have added a hydraulic thumb option to the backhoe including the required increase in the hydraulic pump's gpm output.

Otherwise, I see no reason to bring out a BX25.

The additional money would be better spent on another attachment and/or a nifty little dump trailer. The BX24 is already a sweet tractor: as is.

Yeah, I'm a little worried that if I give up the option on the in stock BX24 then the dealer will be unable to deliver the BX25 in two weeks as he says he can. Be nice if he could though - I will ask for confirmation on Monday.

I agree with Tom - this is a no brainer. By all means get the BX24, and save $1,500. The cash you save will allow you to get useful attachments that will give you far more enjoyment than the minor improvements found on the BX25.

Most importantly, make sure that your BX24 has all of the latest warranty fixes to avoid the problems found on the early releases.

I'm not due any of these until October. Very hard to believe that a dealer could get one sooner.

Just wondering how you made out. Did you get the BX24 or was the dealer able to get a BX25?

Just wondering
