You are correct that the 3pt linkage will be an option on the New BX25. I don't have a price on it yet.
Seems odd. That's like selling a car with a hood as an option. Sure, I guess you don't REALLY need it, but what dope would buy a car without one? Even if you don't use it once, it will kill your resale value in 12 years when they are as rare as hens teeth and Kubota charges $1,176.55 for the stupid thing.

Something smells a little fishy.

In truth, a vast majority of people never use the 3pt. Good point about long term value though. No doubt that 20 years from now we'll be scrambling to find those things.

It's a highly competitive market so if a feature isn't being using by most people then it should be taken off and replaced with one that is - or the price reduced to give them an edge. Having it as an option is fine for the minority. Listening to feedback and market research give them the info they need to make these decisions - the trick is getting it right. Kubota seems pretty good at it. There's also a hidden factor perhaps. There's maybe some people out there that never use the hitch but have that need to have a "real" farm tractor - maybe the hitch signifies that - something less tangible than their research picks up. Then there's gotta be lots of people that think the hitch is a great idea but never get round to using it as the machine is meeting all their needs well enough as it is.

In the the real world they'll probably just take it off and charge us more for not having it....sighhh.

It will look that way, but in truth that cost reduction is offset by rising fuel, freight, and the ever falling dollar. They are sticking to a pretty minimal price increase, it would be still greater with a 3pt included for everyone.

I have a dealer spec sheet, dated June 5th 2008, here:

-redesigned HST, smoother changes in direction
-Metal hood and fenders
-better seat - as found on Grand L40
-allows loader to move at engine idle
-25.5hp D1005 engine

Having a year+ experience watching my next door neighbor use his superb BX24 in lots of different ways, the only upgrade worth adding to a BX24 would be a hydraulic thumb. A nicer seat is always a welcomed addition to most riding equipment, but the lack of a hydraulic thumb on the BX24 is a huge void in my opinion. That should have been their one upgrade. The BX24 handles an incredible range of jobs with excellent results. Needs beyond its capability would dictate the next size up: a B7610 for ground clearance or a B7800/B2630/B3030 for increased capabilities in most [if not all] categories.

the engine you stated is diff them a dealer has posted here. I do not know what the price delta is but buy the looks of it, you are better off with a 24 and save the greenbacks. That is based on poor dollar, materials going over the roof etc.

Yeah, I created a bit of confusion early in the thread. My dealer showed me a spec sheet for the BX2660 and said he thought the BX25 would have the same engine and other similar features. I did not make it clear that I was quoting from the Bx2660 sheet, and it seems now that the BX25 will have an emission modified D902, not the D1005. But I have yet to see it for myself!

Could be they are tightening up the number of features included to what they think people want, and fixing little bugs while they're at it. Perhaps also they may be trying to save costs and stay competitive.

kinda of like the cereal boxes or the ice cream boxes getting smaller amounts for the same price redesigning the packages and adjusting the price....usually increasing

I have read where some people had problems with an abrupt reverse on the BX24's. Is this a problem on ALL BX24's? I think this is something being addressed on the BX25's. Is this a serious enough problem to make a person wait to get a BX25 rather than a BX24?

I would say yes. I have had both the BX2350 (Very short time) and now a BX2660. The reverse stop issue to me was more than an annoyance. See some of the posts on this these folks are not making this up. Definatly like the firm but not abrupt stop on the new series.
