Had a friend once, not too smart. He said he bought a big pickup because they got about 18-19 mpg vs. a Ford Ranger getting 22-25. Well, that doesn't sound like much, but my math says this is about 25%. Actually, he could have gotten a Tacoma 4 that does 25-28 mpg but is like a slug on the road (compared to our turbo diesel; wasn't compared to our plain diesel 240D with 65 hp, which still climbed hills better).
Problem with the smaller pickups and tractors is they don't put all the goodies they do in the bigger and higher hp models. Put all the goodies in, and they cost more equivalent.
