Read the article next time. It is a BRAND NEW facility in North Dakota. The article states several FACTS that I have stated several times. That the demand is DOWN for fuel and that the fuel reserves are HIGH. They also site cost of crude and wildfires. Trust me this refinery will be in the black pretty soon.

Despite all of this economically unsound news for a small company like Tesla. It most likely is going to survive and sometime in the future make some money, or it could be the next Delorean. That number is extremely misleading. The profit margin on the Tesla Model S is actually 25%, which is enviable just about anywhere. They are making an excellent profit on every car they sell.

They are also spending a lot more than they take in. But that is because they are spending those profits and more on R&D and infrastructure investments for things like the Model X, Model 3, battery technology (and the new battery factory), increased manufacturing capacity, and whatever else Elon Musk has dreamt up.

Telsa is still a very young company and investors expect them to keep pumping as much as they can into growth. Their unprofitability is not "unsound news", it's what companies are supposed to do in startup mode.

Hopefully it will have some guts.

Our company has a handful of Ram Eco Diesel trucks. 3 of our guys just drove one from Indianapolis to Bozeman, about 1300 miles pulling a 12' enclosed trailer. They got 12 mpg and got clobbered in the mountains by everything gas and diesel.

They all felt the would have been better off on one of our newer 5.3 Silverado's or 5.0 F150's.
