Makes it run better? Should I remove mine?

Baffle and spark arrestor. The screw cover limits how much you can back out your high jet. Yes they will gain you some power. Every dealer around here pulls the screen before they're sold.

Whats the baffle do for it all. I had one on the old homelite, but never removed it. Will it make for even better running?

In some states/areas, you can get fined for not having a spark arrestor. So don't pull it if cutting in those areas! Mostly affects people cutting on public land out west, but similar rules are applied and enforced in dry seasons elsewhere, or when there are forest fire risks.

Just like the baffles in any muffler. Quiets the machine down and makes back pressure. Its good to have some back pressure with a two stroke, but those baffles are pretty restrictive. Definitely wanna tune that high needle a little richer. Hence the guy's pic with the removed screw limiter. All the screens ever do is get coked up IMO, not good for much else, unless you happen to live in a stste where they're mandatory.

Thats kinda surprising, the dealers here would leave it and charge $100 to fix it after it plugged up.

I am just about in the market for something larger than my trusty Husky 353. I want a saw in the Husky 562XP class with a 24" bar, and am interested in the Echo 620P. However, I have yet to find any Echo horsepower ratings on any of their saws. Although they do a small comparison between the 562 and the 620P- again, no horsepower information.

And yes, horsepower does make a difference and is a major differentiator per each class of saw. I have to wonder why Echo does not publish their horsepower. Does anyone have a link for Echo power ratings?

I think I found a link to that on arborist site.
