New Echo CS500P

Like mentionned its really a rebadged Shindaiwa 488, I had one of those for years, terrific reliable little saw. It fell off the trailer and was ran over and yet it still started on first pull lol...but the casing and fins were crushed so it overheated fast. RIP.

Bought an Echo cs500p last year and from what I can tell so far its just as good. BTW a 16'' bar works best on it IMO, the oilers on those smaller saws are better suited for smaller bars.

I have a 488 Shindaiwa alsio, while the CS500 has a lot of Shindawa in it it has way better power. Steve

I just brought a CS500 myself. I replaced a Stihl 025 with it. The dealer upgraded the bar and chain with Oregon's Pro series bar and .325 chain. Haven't use it yet. Before I brought it, I looked at Huskys, Jonsered, and Stihl. After much research, I found out that Huskys & Joonsered uses just one ring on their pistons (anything that's not a pro model) and Stihl's homeowner line, the parts are made in China and then assembled here. Huskys & Jonsered have a 2 year (consumer) warranty, Stihl- 1 year (even if you use Stihl's premium oil mixture, it's always the consumers fault that the saw broke). Having a local dealer (and the 5 year warranty) is what sold me on the Echo. I brought mine with the 18 inch bar. I can't wait to try it out, I will have to wait because yesterday we had freezing rain so now everything has about 1/4" of ice on it. Bummer!

I used mine for 1 solid day so far, the weather has not let me out freezing rain is the worst I have seen it for a long time. The cs500 ran exceptionally well, light with lots of power and starts on 1 pull. Can't wait to give it a real test though.

Sounds like you did your homework, which is more than most people do. You chose a great saw for solid reasons. I think you'll like it a lot!

I just cut down 4 trees for my bro in law. I love my new cs500p. It pulls a 18" bar easy. A ton more power than my ms250. A lot better made, extra money well spent.

Seems my cs500 came with some extra parts.
