So the Love Canal was a good thing then? Been to china lately where it is probably the equivalent of not having an EPA. No thanks. Just watch what toys you give to your kids..... they may contain lead and cadmium.

I grew up chewing on lead paint on my crib and on the windows. Hasn't done a thing to me that I can tell in 70+ years.
You can throw in the asbestos scare along with the lead paint and lead in gas.

I don't believe it is much more than a whole bunch of hype to scare us. IMO.
Toss the EPA out. Let's get back to business and not farm our jobs out to the other countries. We've been shooting ourselves in the foot long enough.

I'm not ready to toss the EPA out, but do believe they need their wings clipped.

I don't understand how burning more fuel to do the same work (Diesel or Gasoline) in everything we own is better. Can't have more fuel effecient AND lower emissions (at least the bonehead way they are measuring emissions).

But in serious Im wondering at first just how ''strict'' they will be. what actually will be added to the tractors.?And will it be removable.(like catalitic converters were).

I definitely think the EPA needs defunded along with a lot more useless federal agency's. Such as the Department of Energy to name another one. The only thing the federal government is good at is screwing up this country. Just imagine the fuel mileage cars would get if it wasn't for all the silly federal regulations.

Not much short of changing and messing the timing and or the fuel settings as they will not buy the catalytic converters for them (when they could).

They could reduce the fuel delivery and it would go along way to manage this.


The smaller one and two cylinder diesels wont be that smacked around to much as the smallest 2 and four cycle gasoline engines produce 4 times as much carbon monoxide as an automobile.

The diesel catalytic converters are better to manage and do not plug up like the ones used in gasoline engine service.

They have been converting to the aluminum wheel wieghts willingly now though.

we're hearing that Tier 4 is going to be extremely expensive once it hits small diesels... increasing the price of tractors several thousand dollars. They are having to do some crazy stuff on the big tractors now that need to meet it for 2011.

Word is that the exaust is cleaner than the air in LA.

So are we talking cat converters, EGR?? The little diesel in my mower is Tier 4 compliant already and it has no emissions garbage on it.:confused2:
