Oil & Fuel New EPA regulations for small diesel engines

So are we talking cat converters, EGR?? The little diesel in my mower is Tier 4 compliant already and it has no emissions garbage on it.:confused2:

The diesel exhaust gas scrubbers have no EGR as the honeycomb element heats up and burns the exhaust and it changes to CO2 and water vapor.

That is why I purchased a new BX1860 now, I have a 2007.5 Dodge Diesel truck with the emissions equipment, and the regulations are not Retroactive. I don't think that we will have to add anything to the tractors that were not factory equipped.

That's only if the EPA does not follow CALOFORNIA EPA... where the choice is retrofit or stop using.

I posted last year the CA regs effect just about everything 50hp and up... Wood Chippers, Trenchers, Pumps, Dozers etc.

The diesel in my VW Jetta has an EGR. That's why I need to remove and clean my intake every 80,000 miles

Hopefully the newer ones don't need an EGR - as that's a real pain to do.

Easily solved with an exhaust gas scrubber muffler if the motor is in good condition otherwise the motor will gum up the scrubber and reduce its effectiveness.

I heard the other day that by 2014 all cars and trucks are going to need to have back up cams.

As far as the EPA goes, when they went from being an independent agency to one that's controlled by political will it's time for them to either go and be replaced by a much smaller more defined agency or one where the zealots aren't in control.

it has more to do with having low sulphur fuels and the cleaner emmisions from the engines using them-unless they suddenly decied to install catalytic mufflers under them now to solve the issue.

They make have also reduced the fuel delivery volume slightly as well which also reduces the total emmisions at the tail pipe.

I can tell you that in my case using the 2 micron filtration for the Racor 500FGH water separator in diesel service that eliminated a low of exhaust fog and it also removes a lot dirt and water which was troublesome for us when we were using standard sulphur fuels.

The cleaner the fuel is the longer your injection pump will work and will have less wear.

Any idea what the cost would be to make a 60hp wood chipper motor CA Compliant?

The press was running stories of over-the-road trucks requiring 25k worth of work to meet the new standard.

I figured it must be costly because the large utility companies sold off all of their non-compliant equipment out of state rather then deal with it.

Personally, I'd like to see a constitutional amendment that prohibits any congressman or senator from talking to another congressman or senator except while they are in session...and the amendment would state that they can only meet 6 weeks per year. I would pay them minimum wage for a 40 hr week at 50 wks/yr though.

I think you mean CARB (California Air Resource Board). That is where most of these regulations the past few years have come from, the EPA acutally looks to them in engine emission cases. What hasn't been covered by our media is CARB has been fabricating data to fit there agenda for years. I posted some links under the truck and trailer a while ago. The guy is charge was a total fraud and made up numbers to fit his out come. They guess this has cost CA about 50% of there constuction and trucking jobs. Of course here in NY they copy everything CA does so we have basically the same regs. Independent research has shown the studies were off by 400% and a large portion of the pollution in port cities is coming from the ships. Large ships burn bunker oil, which is thick and full of sulfur.
