You could pick up one of these bad boys for about $40K. Yanmar YT359C, integrated hydro mechanical transmission, auto throttle, two rear remotes standard, 100 year old company, Japanese quality, and one of the nicest cabs out there. There are two or three dealers in SE Ohio.

One of the other things that has been mentioned but not really addressed is HST vs Shuttle? I’m not asking for the debate of the two per se (i know they both work) but what would be best for my situation. It seems for mixed work that the HST would be the way to go? I think it narrows down the field depending on which you choose.

HST is only going to be available in the "compact" type of tractors, which go up to about 60hp and 5,000 lbs. These are tractors with a shorter wheelbase , lighter weight and lower ground clearance, designed to be better suited for property maintenance, light construction and non-farm chores. The "utility" tractors, typically larger, are more for farm chores. It's pretty much standard for utility models to have some kind of geared transmission setup for maximum efficiency and the ability to establish a predictable ground speed.

Some good information guys! I really appreciate it!

I am going back and forth on cab vs no-cab. Going into the woods here with a tractor isn稚 real likely. There are a couple spots where you could get into the edges a little ways but much further and your going down the hill.

Dealer support is going to be a little bit of a challenge. There just isn稚 much of anything close here. Basically, you have one of everything here so if it isn稚 good you don稚 have a another option in that particular brand.

We have a good size Massey Ferguson/New Holland dealer in town but they don稚 have a good reputation. The bad reputation they have is pretty much the same theme from everyone, bad service/support after the sale.....that痴 really discouraging because if I stay close that wipes two good brands out.

I haven稚 heard anything bad yet about the John Deere dealer in town and I guess he has been here for a long time. My gut says that is likely where I will end up.

Kubota dealer is 36 miles from me....

Also to add, I just did some more work with the MF 243 and let痴 just say that I will not be going any lighter than it and actually i certainly could use some more weight. I am suspecting that is at least part of the reason why when the previous owner bought a new tractor he went to a John Deere 5100...

I drove 45 miles to get my new tractor, and man it turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Price was similar, but service and how they stand behind customers is top notch! Brought my new tractor home and had a faulty seal in the hydraulic pump from the factory. Dealer swapped my stuff over to another new one and delivered it to me. Try to find brand & dealer man within a reasonable distance, it may be a little more hassle to travel there at times but in the right times can save some headache.

There is a New Holland/Massey Ferguson around 35 miles from me that seems to have a good reputation. I’d rather drive a little ways and deal with that then have to deal with the one close to me being a dud.

Right now, I am thinking about (more like researching) the Kubota m7060 and the New Holland t4.75.

Both of those are solid choices man. I needed the 3rd valve and a grapple immediately so it bit into my total for the tractor a bit so I bought the Workmaster 60.

I did test those though and if I had the spare coin at the time I would have one! Friend of mine has a T4 85 and works it hard on his plantation, nothing but good things to say in about 500 hrs on it.

Here's mine and a side x side with a M6060. The WM doesn't come in a cab so I'm not recommending it for you.

A T4.74 is a good all around cab tractor along with the M7060 Kubota. These 2 are on my short list to trade in my Workmaster 50. I've had it 2 years and so far it has performed great.

If you want a grapple, check out the wicked grapple advertised on TBN.

When shopping for tractors once you identify the ones you like and if you really like MF they have been known to price match. I have a 5240 cab two sets of wheel weights on rears and filled as well. Pretty stable to me and I'm in hilly terrain. I for one really like the hydro. Good luck in your search
