I'm fairly new to TBN but I like the idea of compressing the forums. I think the proposed list is just right. I agree with Glen about not needing a technical forum. I think it would just needlessly confuse things.
Glen mentioned a searchable profile. This would be very nice indeed. Of course it would have to be kept in more of a database than what is now probably text fields. Drop down boxes for brands, implement names etc would be excellent. (Sorry...I've written stuff like this before and don't mean to tell you how to do it!)
I would at least like to search folks by state and also by multiple options on their equipment.
But mostly, great job!! My 2¢.

I like John Miller's suggestion of a place for manufacturer news AND THEIR RESPONSE TO FORUM ISSUES.
I an understand why they might not want to get into extended and public debate with the bunch of crackpots we comprise, but many issues that go on and on here might be well nipped-in-the-bud if manufacturers would be brave enough to speak up.
Other changes all seem right on...esp reducing number of groups under the brand forums. I find myself reading all brands for issues that are really common to all of them.

A few more thoughts.
We have a lot of good and lengthy discussions about tools. These usually end up "Off Topic" but the subject really isn't off topic since people use most of the tools discussed on or with their tractors.
"Ag Tractor Repair" is misused. A lot of the threads are about compact tractor repair.
"Oil, Fuel and Lubricants" is probably unnecessary since everyone knows oil is oil. Nevertheless ...
My suggestion is to eliminate the Ag Tractor Repair forum and the Oil, Fuel and Lubricants forum, and to replace them with one general forum called: Maintenance, Repair, Tools and Lubricants

For future site updates…
On keeping stat’s, you indicate “xxxx Total Posts”, maybe you can also list “xxxx Total Views” with the individual forums such as:Off Topic & Just For Fun (9,178 Total Posts/48,973 Total Views)
There are many subjects, replies are not necessary as the posts are more to inform/educate/update people… therefore the view stat maybe more valuable to use than the reply stat…
You had this vision along time ago for a Compact Tractor Forum… that you achieved probably beyond your wildest dreams. For that, I stand and applaud you for it.. Over time, you have taken your web site and whittled it like an old-time carver whittling a piece of wood.
Muhammad you developed this into a nice online community with other forums such as: Attachments, Tractor Safety, Oil & Fuel, etc. You have helped generate this camaraderie and family atmosphere among us by developing off-shoot non-tractor related forums such as Rural Living and Off Topic & Just For Fun, Etc.
According to your Stats…Off Topic & Just For Fun has created a life all it’s own… Not to be a party pooper, but… perhaps on your next major site overhaul, maybe you can separate this non-tractor related forum just from the View Recent Messages / Past Hour/ Past 12 Hours/ Past 24 hours/ Past 48 hours/ Past 7 days listings… as this will greatly reduce the “clutter” and bring this great site back to basics of “Compact Tractors”. You will still have a separate launch button to enter {under Forum Home} …Off Topic & Just For Fun or even a new web site?
You may even consider changing the name to just plain Off Topic and have a separate Just For Fun… as I felt somewhat uneasy posting there upon someone’s tragic misfortune or death…

Thanks for the suggestions... we'll have a lot of new features when we upgrade the forum (probably within a few weeks, or whenever time allows), and I'll see about the views per forum stat.
We've been considered some break-offs in regards to the non-tractor forums... perhaps a 'community' section split up into various forums, where only non-tractor stuff would be discussed.
