Started fabrication of my ATV storage lifts. I will use my tractor FEL to lift them on top of the racks. Should be finished this week. When you have the right equipment things fly by, so I went to a friends shop who has all the goodies. It is how he makes his living.
140' of 1.75 .093 ERW and 40' of 1" .083 ERW. It will be 20' long x 4' wide x 5' off the ground. I will be able to fit 3 ATV's nose to tail.

I laid out the spacing on the 20' rails and cut all the tubing to length on a large metal cutting chop saw with lubrication in an hour. (Much better than an abrasive saw.)
A Piranha ironworker made fast work of the notches for the tubing. All notches were done in less than an hour. You have to check this link if you want to see how it is done.

My first question to him was how do I keep the end notches paralell when doing both ends of the tubing? Use the weld seam as your line. I guess that should have been obvious.

With all the tubing cut and laid out, there was only one that was not square to the long tubing, so a small additional notch had to be cut.

Thanks, I can't take credit for the welding. I did the design and cut the material to size but my welding is not up to par to have heavy objects up in the air so I left it to a pro who builds race cars for a living.

ATV rack looks great! I like how compact and tight it is by keeping the toys close to the wall and out of the way. AND, it's painted blue to match the other hydraulic racks in the shop! Looks sharp. You can now park 7 more Miatas in the building...

Brought home from PA over the July 4th weekend. It is only going to be here for a few weeks and then return to visit from my Mom and Dads in the Raleigh NC area.

1960 Ford Falcon with 42,000 miles. We are now the 4th registered owners.
It is sweet. Still needs to be detailed but it is pretty clean. We even have pictures of the original owner when he drove it home to Ohio back in late 1959.
