Your windbreak is very impressive. Did you plant those trees? or are the shrubs?

Funny story. The origional owner of the house was polish, and both neighbors were german. First or second generation for all 3 households. and they all hated each other. So the people here put up an 8' privacy fence on all 3 sides of the yard, and arbor vitae in front of them. 40 years ago. There's a couple gaps, but i've planted a bunch in the past 10 years i've lived here.

Put stone down today. One flawless pour, measured exactly right. I was impressed.

Here's the video of him pouring: https://i.imgur.com/eHEWglW.mp4

And here's the finished product:

beautiful spread!

How are you going to drive on that?

In Missouri that would be very hard to keep in place and would take years to "stick together".

I'll drive over it a few times and pack it down into the clay base. Once the garage is finished I'll put modified on top of it, then asphalt.

Finally started excavation! After the absolute nightmare of getting that 24" bucket on the hoe a few months back, I got a chance to put it into action. Of course the fuel filter was clogged and the bowl was filled with sediment, then i ripped the sediment bowl gasket and was leaking fuel. Got all that fixed but had a bit of a late start. Finally got the machine read around 4 and got the first leg dug, 44' long and 3' down. Loaded the dump truck with the bobcat then dumped it in the back. I need a bigger dump truck!

The backhoe is not exactly fast, but it busted through the rocks, clay, and roots without any major issues. This is my first time digging anything more than stumps, so the line isn't the straitest as I was dealing with some wet spots.

Little video of the digging: https://i.imgur.com/GUm0uhX.mp4

I really enjoy seeing your older equipment being used and getting it done.

In the second and third pictures it looks like a group of trees are reallly close to where you are digging. Are those trees remaining thaat t close to your building?

The tree's will remain, the other side of those tree's is an 8' privacy fence and then the property line.

I love my old machines. They have some quirks. I needed to flush bad fuel out of the oliver and replace the fuel filter and fuel bowl gasket yesterday before it would run right. Then the bobcat governor wouldn't kick in so I had trouble loading dirt. All my machines get the job done, just perhaps not as quickly as modern machines do.

Busy day today. Got 3 footers dug. Amazing how much dirt is coming out of the ground. One leg was 8 dump truck loads. I've gotten much better at dumping, it's not as simple as it seems. Have become quite proficient with the bobcat as well as the backhoe. Go figure i'm learning on my own garage. And will probably never need to do it again.

How deep do you have to dig footers in your area?
