You could probably find a shop to do it for 1200-1500 if you look. Its the labor that gets you.

Ok, thanks for the information.

My deal is that I keep the tractor 150miles away at a country property so it's not sitting in my garage to work on. Plus I can't bring it home as I don't have anywhere to put it.

try the adjustment on the clutch freeplay first and see what ya get.

I've never posted here before so I hope I don't screw this up. I haven't been around the Ford's for many years, but doesn't the 2 stage clutch tractor's have a pin on the clutch rod with two holes in it. One position is for transmisson only and the other position is when you want to use the Pto. In this setting the cluch sets a lot higher, and work's the Pto. At least the 860, 861 ect. worked this way. Worth a look, correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, I didn't have an opportunity to fire up the old tractor but I did get to see her for a minute. I found out that I can easily lift up the clutch pedal about 2 inches from where gravity rests it. Is this the freeplay range?

no.. freeplay is where you push before you feel resistance.

I got 3000 ford, gas, 8 speed. The problem I have I cannot engage the PTO with clutch pedal all the way to the floor while engine is idling. If I stop the engine, the PTO level will engage the PTO shaft, i can crank the engine and the PTO shaft turns over the brush hog blades. so, do I have a problem with the 2-stage clutch, is plate "frozen?"
