Edit:

Sorry, the 2516 is the same as a max28XL. The 2216 is the same size as the max28XL, but with a smaller engine. The TYM just seems like a much better choice to me.

I was at my local TYM dealer Friday morning. His smallest available was a T723 cabbed, or a T1003 cabbed. Very nice tractors, but they wouldn't even fit in my driveway. He has an old 233 in the lot that I think is absolutely great! Of course, it's not for sale...

BTW: Here is a picture of the house that will be coming down. As a volunteer, I was Station Commander in a large fire department in South Jerset for 15 years. I made the offer to the local fire company to use it for training. Can't hurt as it will come down easily. The first floor has already collapsed into the crawl space.

I was thinking that a chain through a hole in the cinder block walls, backed by a 3" or 4" U channel scrap steel could easily pull out a 3'-4' section of the wall such as between the door and window. Repeat in a few places and it will come down quickly.

Any idea on what he was asking for the T273?

Sorry, I don't know the TYM T273 prices. My local dealer doesn't sell them. He focuses on the larger TYMs only.

I think XL stands for Extra Long, so I'm not certain how the body sizes compare between the 2216, 2516, and the Max28XL. Thru specs, the Max28XL is a cross between the 2516 and the 3016. While not quite as strong as the 3016, the Max28XL has same motor in smaller size, and actually has more PTO HP than 3016.

I think the 2216 is more like the Max22/25.

All of them seem like great machines. For me, the Max28XL pulled the 2516 and the 3016 into one powerful machine... In todays market for CUTs... I don't think u can beat the Max28XL.

If tractor size is not needed to stay as small as the Max28XL, then there are other great options for the same money. I've mentioned the LS G3033 many times in the forum... I was limited in choice to size. What I got was as big as I could really use. So, I got the very strongest tractor available in that size limitation. Someone not constrained in that way, certainly has more options than the Max series...

Well, I have been talking with a dealer about an hour and a half away regarding taking a look at other Mahindra units and the TYM brand as well. I wanted to see the 2216 HST and the TYM 233. The dealer had a 2216 Gear on hand and brought a TYM 293 in from another location an hour further away. We went out there to see them today.

Mahindra 2216: The one we saw was a gear transmission, not HST. I tried it ... it was ok but we have come to the conclusion that we DO want a HST transmission. The dealer told me that the 2216 is not available in HST. After coming home and checking, either the Mahindra spec sheet is wrong or the dealer is wrong. So, scratch the Mahindra. The mahindra was just so-so. As a result, we are eliminating that one.

TYM: We are more interested in the 233 and the dealer only had the 293. He indicated that main differences are is more HP, rear remotes and tire sizes (larger on the 293). He said, and spec sheets confirm, that they do use the same frames and configuration. Ride and operation was quite nice on the 293. Both my girlfriend and I were comfortable using it.

One thing that seemed weird on the TYM was that the hydraulic disconnects for the FEL were mounted to the FEL, not the tractor. Disconnecting the FEL would leave the hoses flapping in the breeze on the tractor while the quick connects would be nicely mounted to the FEL arm. This seems backwards to me. I was told that BOTH the 233 and 293 come with SSQA FELs.

As for pricing, that is were it got really weird. The 293 was quoted as $14,775. This was including a free FEL. I asked about the 233 as that is what we really were interested in and was told $14,500 (including free FEL). He said that the 233 is not discounted more since the discounts they can pass on are based on how many units they purchase PER DELIVERY, not per contract year, etc. Since he does not have a 233 in stock that is not configured with the MMM or BH, he could have to order it and would not have a good discount to pass on to us. This seemed really off.

I agree that if I wanted to spend this much, the trivial difference between the 233 and 293 would push me to the 293. However; I was trying to stay lower. He is currently $1400 more for the 233 than the Kioti CK20. I will give him a chance to make the 233 better, but am not hopeful. I really like him as he is definitely hungry.

So far, the CK20 is the top of the list. It could come down to the 1026 and CK20. Farm fair and 1026 drive later this week, possibly with better "show prices".

If you had to pick 1026 or CK20, which would it be and why?

Edit:

BTW: Even though the TYM web site still shows the 273, the literature no longer includes it. It appears that the 273 is being put to rest after current inventory is exhausted. And of course, the dealer did not have one.

Sorry to hear the mahindra experience was lacking.

You have certainly been giving all brands a fair shake. It's up to the brand to please you... it's not for you to cater to dealers or companies.

I don't think you can make a bad choice, as long as what the tractor is rated for is what you need it to do for you.

No matter what, you'll still be thrilled with whatever rig you pick :cool2: I had a lot of fun... I mean I worked mine hard, after working my real job, today. Got alot done. More to do tomorrow. Darn. :D

Hope the fair gives you the opportunity you are hoping for.

Tell him you found a 293 for $12950. http://www.tractorhouse.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=6999167&

Thanks radrock for the heads up from tractorhouse.

Well, price and capabilities have ruled out the 1026r. I am down to the final two ... TYM 293 IF I can get the dealer down to the 13,000-13,400 range and the Kioti CK20 for $13,250.

Also ruled out the B2320 for the same reasons - lower capabilities and higher price. In addition, local dealers will not pick up and drop off for free like the other dealers will.

The major differences:

29 HP for the TYM vs the 23 for Kioti
Rear remotes standard for TYM vs optional for Kioti
Standard SSQA for TYM vs third party for the Kioti
Bigger tires but less ground clearance for the TYM
Kioti is several hundred pounds heavier.

What are your thoughts between the two?
