My 2005 New Holland TN60A PTO is always staying engaged. If the tractor is running, it is spinning. At around 700 hours on the tractor, the PTO would turn on when you would push the clutch in. Now at around 900 hours, it has been staying on constantly. Does anyone have any ideas what’s causing this? Is there an adjustment for just the PTO clutch that is needed? I’ve tried finding a service manual to read up on and see about adjustments, but not had luck finding one yet.

Is the PTO really engaged? Or does it just spin from the fluid movement inside the transmission? My Mitsubishi did that but I never bothered to fix it. If an implement was connected it didn't spin.

Is it spinning at rated speed, or just turning?

On Our 5000 Ford the PTO brake wore so that it was always spinning when engine was running but hook up an implement and it stopped.
Like others asked is this what is happening on yours?

The TN has a double clutch setup with the PTO lever engaging the PTO clutch. My guess is that the PTO clutch is stuck to the flywheel if it is indeed turning and not disengaging. It might also be that #13 cable located under the deck needs to be adjusted if the clutch is just dragging and can be stopped with some resistance.

So anytime an implement is hooked up, it will spin and turn. This is what we typically use to mow hay with, but seeing as you have to turn the tractor off to get the blades to quit spinning, we stopped using the tractor when it began doing it full time and only feed with it now. I’ll check the cable and see if adjusting has any change on it.
