Sorry to hear you broke the water line. Why not dig it up and fix it yourself?

That’s was the plan, once dug up, I found it was 2” thin wall pipe. No luck finding fittings for that on a Saturday.

It’s 36”, frost line is 18” in this area. That said, I expected the main to be a bit deeper, which is part of the reason I hit it, wasn’t expecting it yet.

Picture was deceiving, only looked like a ft or so.
Mine is probably 3 ft deep also.

Mine is probably 3 ft deep also.

Looked at the picture again, water level is about a foot down, but the busted line is another 2 feet down. I later dig the ditch deeper to better expose the line, but didn’t get a picture of it.

Here’s a shot after the fix.

Here’s the garage framing for one door.

Didn’t get a lot done today, ran a gas line, finished up the steel panels on the porch, and spent a few hours cleaning up. Re-organized and took inventory of lumber on hand.

Yeah, Parkersburg is about an hour and a half from here, so not too far away at all. I’ve travelled route 50 many times over the years.

Concrete for the front porch arrives at 9:30 in the morning. Finished all flashing and rebar this evening. Going to add coloring to the concrete that should make it a slate/grey color. Never used it before, so should be interesting to see how it turns out. Was going to roll a pattern on it, but wife said she would prefer smooth, so we’ll go with smooth.

Should finish plenty early enough to get pictures for once.

Concrete pour went good, the Solomon coloring I used appears to have worked great, concrete seems to be keeping a nice dark grey color. Concrete plant didn’t put the requested calcium in the mix, so the cool temps caused it the setup slowly. It took most of the day to finish. On the bright side, we rented a bobcat T790 track loader and fixed my yard and cut the drive into the garage while waiting on the concrete to set up. All turned out well, but worked into darkness again. Here’s a midway pic, I’ll get finished pictures tomorrow.
