Dick,

Thanks for the kind words... we do appreciate them. I remember that you've been around since the early days, and I'm glad to see some members still around after the few years and many changes the site has gone through.

rbargeron
Thank you for the thoughtful words.

Its a dirty job that I typically don't get involved in.

The frustration of my moment may benefit us all.

For every action there is a equal and opposite reaction.

In this case the reaction has multiplied in a positive nuclear fashion.

Thanks everyone

Keep all the suggestions and comments coming.

del,
for the record Mr. Kelly isn't a Kubota employee he is an employee of the Contractor responsible for the development and maintenance of Kubota's internet site.

Re: woodstock\'s response, to Mr. Kelly

Bird,
I can only guess as to what achieved the result.
When I saw the unanswered postings at Kubota.ca, I decided my comments would have to startle someone over there enough too cause a reaction.
I also new that failing a dialogue over there, mentioning TractorByNet and linking it in posting over here would create traffic to their site and certainly create dialogue here.
I hope they appreciate the additional traffic they are receiving and reward us.
Rewards How You Say?
By listening and reacting to all the excellent suggestions that will flow from the vast knowledge base developed here thanks to TractorByNet members and of course Muhammad without who, we would be playing internet poker or some other internet waste of time.
Thanks for asking, my friend.

Hey, Woodstock, maybe that's the problem. Muhammad's spoiled us with TBN; makes the other sites seem inadequate./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Woodstock

Playing internet poker, a waste of time? NOT!

Can I get a hand held unit and play while I'm mowing?

I misread the original post as to Mr. Kelly's position. I guess I got too hopeful too fast, without getting the facts straight. Well let's see Kubota is worth how many million/billion? And they can't afford to have an in house team that can respond to any changes INSTANTLY? Hmmm

Outsourcing something that you're going to be (or should be) using/changing everyday is flushing a huge amount of money down the sewer. The best sites I've seen are simple, easy, and usually run by non professionals. I've seen dozens of "professional" sites that are just designed to increase their creation time/money.

I wonder if Kubota would pay me to answer their phones and write their letters. I'd use the same logic that a lot of web designers use..."it's a big mystery....you can't possibly do it yourself" Many companies have found that to be ridiculous. Hire a lawyer, hire a doctor, but a web designer?

If they find some smart guys they should bring them in house, so their contact is more with the tech, sales and parts people, not the bookeepers or comptrollers.

IMHO of course...

Re: woodstock\'s response, to Mr. Kelly

Dick,

Well and diplomatically said.

I think Woodstock has done service by bringing the Kubota site to our attention and by bringing certain issues both to that site and to this one. I would not have chosen the words he did, and maybe he wouldnt again either, but I dont find them offensive in any way.

I am basically opposed to censorship and regret that the Kubota site chose to erase his post. The theory of our democratic society, and of our First Amendment, is that "bad" speech will be driven out of the marketplace of ideas not by censorship, but by "good" speech offered by others in reply. That is why this site is so mature and civil--not because Muhammad will press a delete key, but because irrational or rude words will be instantly met with reasoned, calm words in opposition.

And comparing any other tractor site to this will always be an unfair comparison. This site is way too ...... /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif!!

Re: woodstock\'s response, to Mr. Kelly

I tend to react the way woodstock did in some situations. The great attitude of all the guys on this board create a friendly atmosphere that serves to calm me down. I know I've certainly griped about my steering problem, but I really haven't cut loose on Kubota yet, because I still think they will come through at some point.

I wish Kubota had a better site for all of us, not just a Canadian site - one that gives more information that whats in the brochure. For instance, I would like to view the manual online (they do have a generic maintenance schedule on there I think), since I have lost my 2710 manual in our recent move.

Of course the tractor manufacturer that puts up the ultimate site will take over the market. Such a site will allow us to download parts and horsepower upgrades. Tires might take a while to download at 56K, but the fuel filter should be pretty quick. With a T1 you could download a whole tractor in a few minutes and pay no shipping!
