I have an 07 Dodge SRW 3500 diesel, pulling a Bri-Mar 18 ft, 12,000 gvw trailer in which the trailer with tool box weighs in at 3200 by it's self. Then add my L48 with various gadgets depending on what I am heading to do and the tractor avg's 8200 lbs. I can pull it OK, however, I can't get legal because my trailer is too short, stopping me from adjusting the weight. I go through the local weigh station all the time, and they don't bother me. They do come out and check that I have a chain on all four corners plus the hoe and not using straps. At the time, 18 ft is all that Bri-Mar had. Now, they have a 20 ft'r and this, is still too short as I can't manuever for legal weight
Isn't it amazing how many things can trip you up when it comes to trailer ownership?
It's a wonder 1/2 the guys who buy trailers buy the right one the first time.
