New Kubota with DPF Filter

I read his post and it makes perfect sense to me. As a dealership service coordinator I see DPF system complaints and symptoms all too often. The comment about running times and operating temperatures are spot on. The vast majority of problems are related to short run times, low operating temps and operating engines at too low RPM. Getting operators to run these machines the way DPF systems demand is a major challenge.
Spot on. I have been using my L6060 for some light work for a few days and the PM has been rising quickly - to 92% when I started today. Today's job was hauling heavy loads of stumps to our brush burn area 3 miles round trip full speed. PM was down to 78% when I finished. Needs to be worked.

Old thread revived :D

Is the ZD1511 Regens iron out now ?
I know they were a nightmare to start with & dealers had ther inventory put on hold because of it.

I own a ZD1211 & wanting a ZD1511.

I’ve found a new leftover weathered 2018.

No, and it won't be until the changeover is made to the new common rail engine.

New member here, use to frequent the orange tractor talks forums, but it seems theres a few members there that seem to know it all and they would discount replies except their own to peoples questions.
Anyways i have owned a 2015 B3350 since 50 hrs, now 4 yrs later i have 680 hours and i love it, other than a blown hyd steering hose( a real chore to swap) it has run perfect, summer and -25 winters, keep rpms up and let it eat the fuel, never any regen problems. It would still be my go to tractor if sitting on the lot and i was tractor shopping.

Yeah, you don't want to buy anything with any new technology or advertised improvements because it's never going to work or last like the old stuff. Like cars in the 50s and 60s that were wore out by 60,000 miles and tires that got maybe 10,000 miles and them 8 track tape players. Course these ole modern auto transmission cars with 200,000 to 300,000 miles and tires that get 40,000 to 60,000 miles are a fluke. NEVER GO NEW, DIFFERENT OR ADVERTISED IMPROVED because they are made to self destruct soon so you have to buy another one!!!:eek::thumbdown::cool2: Oh, my NEW L3901 HST (NO NOT GEAR DRIVE) should be here today since they didn't deliver it yesterday. 20+ Kubotas from Barlows!:D:cool2:

Barlow, isn't that a pocket knife?

That is a BS statement you just made. What is the REAL reason you are discontented ?

My ZD1511 has 204 hrs and just completed it's 20th regen (I keep record). With exception of the very first regen, it has operated trouble free. IIRC, the B3350 has the same engine as ZD1511. Mowed some really high thick grass today and the machine never dropped an rpm that I could tell --- extremely powerful engine for a lawn mower.

Nice engine, 60 “ snowblower; 72” 3 pt finish mower, never a lack of power

I have a M5-111 which is at a Kubota shop now for a DEF warning light coming on. No news on the cause at this time. What is the sufficient RPM to minimize regen issues? The tractor engine horsepower is rated at an RPM at 2600 of which I do not even get close to. I usually run around 1900-2000 RPM.

Depends on what work your doing, rear pto 540, i think thats around 2300 engine rpm, mid pto front snow blower thats around 2300 also, theres a smooth spot there that i find that the blower runs very smooth. For general hauling stuff around at least 2000 -2200 rpm regens are nothing to stay away from, light comes on, giver the juice and carry on, or, stop, giver the juice, put parking brake on and walk away for a coke, 20 minutes done deal.

Not enough hours on these tier 4 tractors yet for the complaints to start. Give it 3 - 5 years and 1000+ hours of use for a more accurate appraisal
.
I work on construction equipment from small forklifts to large excavators. DPF have added a lot of problems and cost to machines.
I have a customer with 2 Yale forklifts right now with kubota engines that arent 3 years old that both need the DPF replaced at a cost of about $3k each.
Hours are 2200 and 2600 and these machines are ran hard all day long and not let to sit idle or babied to cause the problem.

Ive seen brand new $200k excavators need a DPF replaced in under 200 hours of use. No codes, no regen problems shown , nothing. Just stopped up and shut down. Factory response... we dont know why it did it. Fine and dandy when under warranty for the customer, but what happens when its out of warranty and clogs another DPF @ a cost of $5500 to the customer and the factory response is we dont know why, and it could do it again in another 200 hrs and at that time its not under warranty and its out of your pocket.

DPF are not owner friendly for repairs. They will require a laptop and soft ware or access code to enter the system and ck or clear codes or put into bypass regen.
When the DPF has problems sometimes ya go into derate, sometimes it shuts down and wont crank. Which will lead to having to call the dealer tech in to plug up to it, All added cost and downtime.

We need a thread in about 2020 on this topic for the real consensus of how they have worked.

B3350 680 hrs, runs like a swiss watch, it has a cpl times in the past seemed to be dumping lots of fuel during regen, lots of white smoke, as i was parked i just opened the hood and leter eat, no problems. great little machine for 4 years now.

At some point the DPF will need cleaned. Kubota says 2500 regens. Most users won't see that, at least not the first owner but someone will at some point, if, the tractor lasts that long....

In an ag application like I run, I'd be cleaning it every couple years. Problem is, when it is full of burned ash and needs cleaned, they don't all pass muster and have to be replaced. Typical cleaning is around 300 bucks and to renew is about 500.

I have serious doubts about the computer controls, moreso that a DPF filter. Lowest bidder electronics seem to fail after a few years.
