New L3240 arriving Friday!

I finally made a decision and I have to say how grateful I am for all the information available in these forums. I liked the L3800 but discovered that å±*erky 3pt hitch and that would have been a problem for me. The 3240 was the tractor I originally had my eye on so it didn稚 take much to move me over to that model. From what I can tell everyone with a Grand L absolutely loves it.

I ended up with the following.

L3240 HST-3
HD Loader
HD Bucket w/ QA
Land Pride QA Forks
3rd Function Valve (for a grapple still researching)
R4ç—´ with Rim Guard
Two rear work lights
84 Landscape Rake
72 Box Blade

Mark at Issaquah Honda Kubota was a pleasure to deal with. Very responsive, fair on pricing and did what he said he would do.

Looking forward to getting some work done. :licking: I値l have the camera ready when she gets here. Thanks again to everyone in forums this would have been a much more difficult process and less fun without your help.

You won't believe what you can get done in a day with that machine! Of course some on this forum would say that your really not getting a tractor ... unless we get some pictures 8^)

Nice!!!!!!I had a L3130HST ,you should be very happy with that tractor.I don't know if you are going for a full grapple..check out the thumbs that can be added to your bucket, that with a tooth bar is pretty handy.A little less weight and cost.

Thanks everyone - I'll be sure to snap a few photos. On the grapple I'm thinking of going with a full grapple. Any recomendations would be appreciated.

I also meant to ask if anyone thinks the 72" box blade is to big for the tractor. The rear R4's (loaded) measure right under 72" so it should just cover the tracks - but if it's going to bog down it wouldn't bother me to get a 66 or a 60 either.

I live in Western Washington on a very flat lot. Our soil is mostly glacial till - lots of rocks. Initally I'll be using it level and grade after I clear brush, trees, and stumps. I'm not in a huge hurry so if I have to go a bit slower I don't mind. If I have to go twice as slow with a 72" as I would with a 60" then I would make the change.

Thanks for the input.

Would you mind sharing the prices for the tractor and each option? I'm almost to the point of buying and the 3240 is one of the contenders.

thanks!

Congrats Sub80. Enjoy the new rig!

So I gather from your comment, the L3800 inherited the jerky 3PH problem of its L3400 predecessor? Wow, if that's the case I am really surprised Kubota didn't sort that out for the model update.

You won't have any problem with the 72" bb, as mention, you may or may not have to hold back on how big of bite you take, but the extra width to cover your tracks will be worth it if you do.

I bought one about a year ago and love it. Just do a search on the grapple and you'll see several different opinions. I bought a Construction Attachments unit from Everything Attachments. In our situation, it has been the handiest tool used.

Quick question for you. Is the third function kit a Kubota unit? The reason I ask is I asked for this option, assuming it would be a factory kit. The dealer steered me to the WR Long kit, saying they preferred it. I've seen 2 or 3 guys getting this option on L3240's here lately and wondered if they were getting steered the same direction. I've had no issues with the kit I got.

Yeah - when I asked the dealer to check it before I was fully committed he said he hadn't heard of the issue on the L3800. He said he was going to go throw a mower on one and try it out. Sure enough - he called back an hour later saying how he couldn't believe the tractor had that issue. He said flat out he wasn't going to sell one until Kubota resolved it. He seemed genuinely displeased.

I did get the Kubota unit 3rd function and he didn't steer me away from it at all. I'll add that I'm new to this so I wouldn't have even thought to ask about an after-market kit. Haven't got to play with it yet so I have no feedback as of yet.

Are you happy with the quality, fit and capability of your grapple from EA? Anything you would change about it? I've been looking at that one as well as one from Anbo Manufacturing. What size did you get - and do you also have the HD loader? Thanks!

No, I didn't get the HD loader, but wish I had. That's the only thing I know of I would change about the tractor. I believe the grapple is the 66" unit, but I'll double check tomorrow. I've used the dog out of it and it has stood up well.

EA has also been great to deal with. In the last year, i've bought the grapple, a PHD, and a garden bedder from them. The only problems were with UPS. When the phd shipped, the auger got seperated from the unit. EA helped trace it down and get it re-directed to me.

When the bedder shipped, the package was busted open and parts were missing. They shipped replacement parts the same day.

After having a 3130 I would get a 84" box blade. Your tractor will have plenty of hp and weight to work it. I bought my grapple off Ebay and had it shipped to Issoquah Kubota and then they put it on the three point and shipped it up to alaska this way. The company had free shipping in the lower 48. What are you going to lift? If really heavy, I would get the 66" compared to the 72" as the size of the grapple will really take what you can lift down. My grapple weighs over 800 lbs. It is 1/2" plate and heavy built, but it is very heavy.

My dealer also gave me the kubota third valve. Works great for picking up telephone poles and logs.

I have a new L3240 HST+ in NW Arkansas. It's very hot on the operating platform when I'm working. I'd be interested if you experience the same level of heat. I work in shorts and CROCs to handle the temperature. hipilot@rocketmail.com
