Kubota L3901
Bought new 3901 in April. Did the whole purchase over the phone. I was pricing a 2020 model. When the dealer delivered it was a 2019 MY. I did not notice until he was gone. You guys know of any difference in the model years ? Dealer says no difference. Wondering if I should get Kubota involved ?
It also has a clicking in the PTO when engaging with no load on it. As soon as you put an brush hog on it the clicking goes away. Any ideas ? Thanks for your help.

Tractors are not done by "year" - it's model numbers only. Every manufacturer does it this way...

The PTO might need to be adjusted... when you say the clicking goes away with the mower on, do you mean the mower engaged?

<edit> When you engage the PTO, you are pressing in the clutch all the way? Clutch might need an adjustment...

Did they give you paperwork saying it’s a 2020 or 2019? If they were quoting a 2020 and gave you a 2019 then they need to either give some money back or switch tractors.

End of the day I doubt that there is any difference between model years except one is older.

Not sure about the click noise. How loud is it?

The paperwork just had the serial number. The model year tag with the manuals says MY2019. I have a feeling he knew what he was doing. When I engage the PTO with nothing attached I can hear a clicking like the gears aren稚 meshing. It gets better as I raise the rpms. Can稚 hear it at all with the bush hog attached. Possibly the rpms are drowning it out.
I kind of feel screwed with the model year. I know he paid less for the older model. I guess that痴 why he had the best price.

Where are you and who is the dealer? I went through this when I bought my 1140 RTV. However my dealer gave me the option between the two and the price difference. Don't be too butt hurt, enjoy your new tractor...

There are no model years with the L3901 and most other tractor models. Manufacture date is altogether different.

I have no idea about the PTO but tractor gears are not very tight and I would not be surprised if there was backlash or chatter when the PTO is unloaded. Similar to idling a boat motor in gear, you're going to hear the gearing chatter.

There is gear chatter even with my 2002 BX when I turn on my rear PTO. It's done it since it's new.

When I was on the farm, all of the tractors would make their own noises with an unloaded PTO.
