No pushing to either side just back and forward, sometimes if you just move it back and forth a few times it will go in. You will get the feel for it after a while.

It can take a lot of force for the SSQA levers. Make sure the quick attach pins are well greased. The only time I have really had trouble is when they needed grease. Attachments from different manufacturers may fit a little differently. My Kubota bucket is harder to get on than the CID bale spear.

Nice tractor. I'm really wanting a cab now!

The 7040 shifts fine, just a bit of a clunk to it.

Are the skid steer levers supposed to be really stiff and such a pita? I was jumping on the bucket, kicking the **** levers etc.. I've only used the power quick tach but that dont seem normal.

Hi-lo gearshift is easily accessible and merely is designed to just move it back-n-forth. Have you greased the skid steer attachment linkages?

I also noticed there seems to be a gap between the bucket and the SSQA plate. It doesn't sit flush like the one in your picture B hoofed, despite jumping on the bucket but looks as though it should accept the pins even with the gap. I was in a rush yesterday but I think its the pins binding, hopefully the grease helps. Thanks

Was the bucket on the ground? It helps to lift the bucket and curl back to seat the plates before engaging the pins.

very nice tractor, congrats TruckinFool.

Did you get your rear tires filled? My 5740 felt very light in the rear end
all by itself, adding a ballast box and filled tires simply transformed the tractor.
I only ask this as you've got quite a teeter totter working
with all the weight up high and out front.

No but I will, along with build a counter weight for unloading. It has the iron wheels but cleaning the paddocks today it wanted to spin when changing directions etc. I suppose using the foot throttle would help but it seems even just the loader takes quite a bit of weight off the rear. The high/low seemed to work a lot better. Every once in a while I'd stop in a funny spot but after inching forward it went in fine. Was 90 something today and I got cold in the cab watching all that manure dust fly around :cool:haha nice problem to have.

Haven't looked at the 12/12 speed charts but sure would be nice to grab 3high from 3/4low. Then again maybe good to keep it slow.. some horses dont seem to get the concept of moving...

horses are just like cows, some will stand in front of you till you almost hitt them.i know some of our cows do that.an then you have to slow down or stop.

Like last weekend when I was mowing. Could not get them to move. Had to go around and come back later to get the spot I missed.

haha Yea most of them that get brave are cured when I raise the bucket above their heads. Except this one old mare, retired Westernair, mounted shooting etc... Hood guard 8" off her butt, bucket over her head, turns around and looks at me like "I'm the idiot".... Horses.
