No. I got the tractor back with some improvement, but not much. The dealer was a little embarrassed to admit that they could not find the right test gauge:confused:..., but would get another one and do so. Their first impressions were that overall pressure was low but I think they are guessing without the right test equipment. They did add the wheel weights, which helped, but only a little. As has been discussed over and over, this bucket is just too big, almost half the capacity of the FEL but that in itself does not explain low curl capability. I used the tractor for hours yesterday moving lighter brush and it worked great, just not with heavy logs or gravel. The dealer did apologize for spec'ing the bucket too large for me and I think will try to get his next M customer to consider a nice lightly used grapple, and get me the lighter weight 66 as I should have had all along. The dealer is a friend and has provided me with outstanding service otherwise, so I'm treading lightly here.

I will follow up with the dealer regarding his pressure tester and I know they will make sure the tractor meets specs. They aren't trying to run away or around the problem, so I'm giving them a chance, or two..., to get it right. So still inconclusive at this point. I am likely to order the "tilt" to go along with the "top" he just installed, so when that comes in, he will pick up the tractor for free and go over everything again.

Besides curiosity, my (10 month old L5740HSTC3) LA854 has been less powerful than my previous GL5030/LA853. I discovered about 250 psi below spec on the 853, and adjusted that back to spec with shims.

I tested the 854 this AM and it measures just about 2400 psi, which is 370 psi below the rated maximum of 2770 psi (see attached).

I crawled under to find the relief valve to shim it, (I have the Kubota shim set) and after 10 minutes of "examine the photo, look at tractor, orient photo, look at tractor", I still could not find the relief valve as indicated in the photo SCAN0015.jpg.

Going to have to call my dealer.

I had the same problem with my 5030...best I can recall, photo is similar...underneath there is something that looks like a drain plug but when you take it loose...be very careful....slowly let it drop and also down will come the valve, spring and some washers (shims)....

That's my memory,....don't know if your 5740 is same as the 5030...good luck! I've found that a call to the dealer and talk with service manager is very useful and helpful. Good luck! I know that you will see a HUGE difference when you get the pressure brought up to spec!!

Hi John, glad to hear from you.

Yes, the 5030 was pretty straightforward when I did it, and I used a screen covered container as a shortstop to catch any parts.

The 5740 relif valve is in a different location...so far I have not been able to find it regardless of how I compare the photo to the underside. I am probably staring right at it and not seeing it.

I will try again this week.
