New L5740HSTC3 loader question

I was a little surprised that even at higher rpm, I could not curl at all once in the gravel pile. Always had to back up a little. I'm trying to push in and curl at the same time, and have a long way to go to get better at it. But the FEL seems weak scooping stone. But likely that offers me some safety until I get more weight in the rear. I think I'll experiment using 2000 rpm and turn off the stall guard; curious to see if the nanny device is set very protectively. But I really don't want to load the tractor too much until it has more time on it; I'm up to a whopping 18 hours now. And boy am I having fun.

As John noted, there is a certain touch or technique to getting a full bucket and it will vary from tractor to tractor. Even with our M8540, you can't just run in, get a bucket full, curl and back out. If you don't do it right you just dig holes and bounce around. Your manual will give you rudimentary instructions, but there is nothing like practice. I have thousands of hours using FEL's going back over thirty years and still just dump the bucket, back out and give it another shot as you will vary depending on type of dirt, rock, mulch etc. I moved several dump truck loads of 6" minus crushed rock and it was a real bear to get a full bucket while 1" clean was a breeze.

yes to the toothbar. They had one that came off with just two bolts, so I can remove it if needed, but for tree work, it was super helpful.
There is a little on/off lighted button below the two control buttons, and every once in a while, I popped some breaker because the light went out and it turned off.
just press the button again and continue. I'm wondering if/how this is related/connected to the relief valve in the FEL.
I have the Kubota third function(same as yours)that lighted button turns on/off the power to the grapple;has to be lit to operate the grapple.I found it is easy to bump this and shut off.

Daugen, there is one more experience you can look forward to...it happens when you triumphantly raise a heaping load of gravel/rock way, way up and then bounce the bucket...wonderful things fall down on your purty hood...teaches you to keep the FEL low...don't ask me how I know:eek:

Having never done that myself, I had thought that was just an urban legend...the depression in the hood on our 80's era MF375 is for aerodynamics or so I am told...

uh, I've already done that, luckily with some nice soft dirt. No foul, no harm, big lesson learned...

gen has been on since 2pm, gonna be a long couple of days...

unless you have about 30 gallons of gas, you're going to run out of gas for the generator....hope you have enough...this is always a surprise to people who actually have to use a generator for a long time....gas just vanishes...be sure and keep it in a ventilated area...just comments you probably don't need but I can't help it...too much experience with power outages myself.

John, luckily it's a 20kw Generac whole house standby powered by 400 gal of propane.
I had way too much experience too, and two years ago, trudging through a two foot snow drift to get to my woodpile to try to keep the house
warm, I plain said enough. I should be good for about four days, but if it runs more than a day, which in this storm is likely, I'll shut it down for awhile tomorrow just to conserve.
appreciate the thought, really.
