Greetings,
Got my new L6060 a couple weeks ago. I've had it in the garage a couple of times. Once to put fittings on the 3rd function and then a couple times getting the aux lighting mounted and wired.

After I installed the fittings for the grapple it stayed in the garage overnight. I left the grapple open to surprise my wife the next morning with that mean I want to eat you for breakfast look. But the next morning one of the lids had drooped closed. When I backed the tractor out I noticed a small puddle of hydraulic fluid on the floor. I thought a fitting or valve for the 3rd function was the culprit. I went and looked but found nothing.

Last night I finished wiring in my lights and as I was working I saw a puddle forming and growing. When I looked around under there the only thing I found was oil on the pin from the weep hole in the bell housing. After 5 hours the puddle was like 8 wide and 12 long. A decent amount for a tractor with 7 hours on it.

I called my dealer and they will get it in there as soon as I say the word. I just need to get a couple things done since I had been without a tractor for a month while I waited for it to come in.

So, has anyone else seen this? Could it be anything but a seal inside the trany? I imagine that the tractor will need to be split before it is 10 hours old. Sad

At least the lights turned out good.

There are other TBN threads about the issue with older models of the L series. Someone had mentioned that Kubota changed the seal design but apparently there are still problems. I do not recall any issues with that low of hours though, most had lots of hours before a leak happened and unfortunately yes the tractor will need to be split to repair.

My L5740 had the same thing happen at under 50 hours the best I remember. It had to be split, about 400 hours on it now anf no further problems.

Good to hear, thanks.

You look at it and you know what it means. You just don't want to see it in the first place. If it is going to happen it is best to be done under warranty...

I'm a Kubota fan, we own four, but it is really a shame they didn't improve on the seal with several reports of failures in the L40 Series. Thankfully, while I've heard of several OEM failures, I've never heard of a reoccurence once repaired.

Ouch! That's like being punched in the stomach!

My L 3400 had to be split when it was less than 2 years old, but for a sticking clutch spline. Great job by the dealer, no questions about the warranty, had it back in three days. That was 250 plus hours ago and no problems since, either as a recurrence or as something caused by it being apart.

At least kubota stands by their warranty!

Yes they do and my tractor was picked up and delivered free, eighty mile round trip and mounted my wheel weights no charge while it was there.

I had a 2003 L5030HSTC with over 1400 hours and no mechanical issues.

I stopped at the dealer today to get some more UDT2. I am planning on sending mine back in another week or so.

I am guessing you never took it in to fix the seal yet or is there another problem?

No,I haven't taken it in yet. Just been watching the level and keeping it topped up.

Wanted to get a bunch of work done with it before letting it go for a while.

Keep on finding more...

Update on an old thread. The dealer had my L45 for about a week and a half.He said he wasn't able to get anything to leak out of the pin.He tried running it and driving it around but no leaks. After talking to Kubota they suggested it may have a leak in the front axle seal where the drive shaft connects. There is a metal tube over the drive shaft so any axle fluid leaking out this seal will flow back through the tube and eventually out the drain pin. They replaced this seal and we will see what happens.Apparently Kubota used a different type of seal in the newer Grand L's,and the L45,and they have been having a fair amount of problems with them. The recommended fix is to replace the seal with the older spec seal.I haven't been talking to the dealer since the repair so I don't know if they found evidence of the original seal leaking. He dropped the tractor off while I was away.I will ask him about it the next time I am talking to him.

Thank you for the update! I still have not taken my tractor in because it is still in high demand. Hoping to get it in after firewood is done.

What you are saying makes a lot of sense. Take a look at these. I took them a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately in the first picture you can't see that the largest puddle is in the back. It's in the shadow and under the weep hole.

In the second you see oil coming from the front axle, running down from the tube. There is also oil collecting on the screw heads and dripping from there.

In the third you see a bead of oil ready to drip from the weep hole.

This explains everything. I feel much better now. Tomorrow I will check the fluid level in the front axle. I'm sure it needs a refill. Also explains why the main reservoir hasn't really dropped much.

From the pictures it looks like your axle seal may be leaking.Apparently it is a fairly easy repair.Kubota allows ten minutes to do it but it is more like a half hour.A lot less than splitting the tractor in two pieces.
