Ok so not exactly an attachment, but as i will be wearing it ATTACHED to ME, i figured why not.

I was surfing the intarweb the other day, and ran across Leathermans new tool.

A combo pruning shear/mulit-tool.

I had to have it! :D

Now a little background, ive had a leatherman in my pocket sence the early 90's. I stared with a PST, moved to a PSTII when it came out and still carry one today (unfortantly not the same one, i was rather disheartend when i found that the PSTII i had carried for nearly 10 years went missing at a hocky game... (i morned for weeks...but i digress)

SO i checked around and Amazon seemed to have a low price. couple of clicks and its on its way.

It arived today :D

Hear you will see it pictured as it came out of the box, next to a super tool and the PSTII i carry in my pocket every day.

The case is surpriseingly large, but that is for a reason....

Sitting in your hand its lighter than the super tool thanks to its mostly plastic body (it does have a metal shank on the inside) but heavyer than my PSTII

It has large finger grips and you can feel the the molded plastic/rubber handle nubs grabing ahold of your palm as you sweeze it. Should have good gloved hand feel and stablity.

Open it up like a regular leatherman you find the shears. Sharp, clean, but the locking mechnism will need some "Breaking in" to be smooth.

Tools included are a stout #2 phillips that would rival a standard screwdriver, a "Weed digger" with 3" ruller, a single bevel (sharp only on one side) straight edge knife for hacking and slashing as opposed to fine cutting. Very stiff with nearly a 1/8" thick spine, should take fair amount of prying abuse.

The other handle features a combo flat head/large phillips and bottle opener as well as a surpriseingly thin (hides in the handle) RAZOR sharp 3.5" or so saw.

The shears have good smooth action and good spring back, enough were its a good postive feel on the hand with out being overly tireing to squeeze over and over while pruning.

The size of the pouch becomes aparent when you decide to put it away, and relize, hey i bet this thing would fit in it if i didnt fold it up! yep, locked or unlocked it easly slides in, with plenty of handle sticking out the top.

Time will tell if the case wears in and the tool slips down inside to far when its folded up. BUt for my use i dought ill have a need to fold them up unless i carry it in a tool box. While a bit bulky folded up in ones front pocket, it would easly work in a cargo pocket on the theigh.

Oh no, another folding gizmo for me to buy. :) I think I must have every folding tool made. Kind of like my weakness for Snap On, Mac and Matco tools, I see a new folding tool and just gota have it.

You mentioned the possibility of wearing a hole in the bottom of the pouch if you put the tool in the open position. You might try shoving a small piece of leather into the bottom of it to protect it from the pointy tip.

Mornin Schism,
My first observation is that the new tool has a more hand friendly grip than the older tools ! My only problem with it is that I dont like to carry bigger items like that on my belt, I guess Im doomed to smaller unfriendly hand grips ! ;)

no, it clearly feels like the top portion of the tool wedges in the upper part of the sheth before the clipper contacts the bottom.

This same wedge action is what keeps the tool in its folded up postion from falling to far down into the sheeth to easly get ahold of it to get it out.

I dought i could capture a good pic of the profile of the sheeth but it has a change in shape about half way down.

The sheeth was surpriseingly large, but with the belt clip it fits well on my hip :D

Ill report in with this weekends trial use.
