New LS MT342 loader issues

I looked at my loader line's this weekend and I have to correct myself. The quick connects at the loader are 3/8" (6600 series) and and then it is 1/4" hose and tubing from there. So the restrictions will be the loader hoses and lines.

A pump that will put out approximately 7-7.5 GPM, quick connects rated at 6 GPM and 1/4" hoses rated, highly marginal, at 3-4 GPM.

I wonder why they went with 1/4? Has anyone looked at a New Holland tractor of the same size? They are LS tractors but New Holland has their own loader. I will have to see if I can locate one and see what size lines they use?

I can tell you, because my old one was a New Holland and that loader used 1/2" hose and 1/2" OD tubing. It used the same 3/8" quick connects (6600 series).

Would larger hose speed up loader? Reduce lift capacity?

It would speed it up but shouldn't impact lift capabilities.

If the 1/4" lines are causing a pressure drop due to restrictions then you could see some gain in capabilities by using the larger lines. Don't suspect it would be that large of a change.

New Holland also used smaller diameter cylinders than LS. That would also impact cycle times as well.

I believe I read in another thread that doing this should help reduce the severity of the floppy bucket syndrome some complained about.

Yep. Couple different ways they could have addressed that issue. They chose smaller lines restricting the flow. But there are trade-offs with different methods
