Charlie,Timber said:Rob that was perfect timing, I am on vacation this week coming up and I have about 300 feet of fencing to do, I am going use my new PHD for the 1st time LOL
I have miles of fence under my belt but all done by hand.
Jim,jinman said:Rob, it's hard to tell by your photos, but I always mount my mailbox with the front lip about 1/2" lower than the back. That way any door leakage runs back out the front instead of flowing back and possibly wetting my mail. Does anybody else do that?

LOL yea my dad had a post hole digger, his name was Chuck, He wasn’t about to dig a hole by hand either. I’ll never forget the routine. He would mark the hole and say Dig it 12 inches round 36 inches deep with square sides. And dig fast before the water comes into the hole. One thing I can do is dig into the ground. Hear in New England if you take a leak you get a rock so I suspect I’ll still be doing a lot of hand digging. I have bars in all shapes and sizes so I think I’m in good shape.3RRL said:Charlie,
You're a tougher man than I am. I wouldn't dig a fence post hole by hand if you paid me. It's bad enough having to shovel the rest of the dirt out. And man, if you hit a rock and have to get a breaker bar to "chisel" it out of the hole you'd end up with deltoids like Arnold.
Just curious, if there out in the open, did they build them with a ½" slope? LOLjayhaitch said:Here in Canada all new urban developments and all rural areas have "super mailboxes." That's newspeak for one big mutha everyone must go to to pick up mail. There is no home delivery anymore, unless you live in older urban areas.
The "super mailboxes" are just like ones in apartments, little doors individually keyed, but out in the open. At least newspapers still get delivered to each dwelling.

Probably crack heads looking for checks to cash. Maybe an identity thief. People get worried these days so we bought a super box and poured concrete. We actually like them for a suburban setting and the maillady can just do it all at once instead of traveling box to box.
Lets hear it again Soundguy: "Hey.. nothing says service like the us post office!"LC Brewing said:Our neighboorhood (twenty 5-acre lots) did the same a few years back due mostly to convenience. Our gravel private road is a mile long, and this gives the lazy mail lady a single place to put the mail. I think the post office actually gave the homeowners association some sort of kick-back for the convenience. The original box that was purchased was broken into once before one of our neighbors took it to his shop and super-modified it (to the tune of plate all around). We've got it mounted in a concrete slab at the entrance to our road, and so far, so good (3 years now). Now if we could just get the lazy mail lady to get her a** out of her jeep to deliver the packages that are too big for the box...instead, she just drives up the drive way and tosses it out her window in front of the garage door. Or, better yet, if she doesn't feel like driving the extra 1/4 mile to the front of the garage door, she just leaves a little notice in the mail box and we have to go to the post office to pick it up.
