New MF1220 owner...a few questions

Hey Dave,
I got the "Massey Ferguson 1220 Tractor Parts Book Catalog" from www.manuals.us, but now I don't see it listed on their site. The part number on my order from them was "W9". It has all the part numbers you could ever think of. It's great! Although, there have been a few numbers that local vendors weren't able to reference. I don't have a MF dealer nearby, so I've been going to a New Holland dealer who has access to most MF parts apparently, so maybe he's just not familiar with MF numbers.

Anyway, if you want, send me what parts you are thinking of, and I'll look up the #'s for you.

Hey Matt:

I called my local MF dealer this morning and got all the filter part#'s. Posted below. Looks like my local price is about the same as buying them from NAPA...with that in mind, it's probably better to establish a relationship with the dealer.

I also asked about the shudder in the loader and 3PH hydraulics. The guy said that if it's a 1993 and only has 300 hours on it, the shudder is probably coming from the joints sticking moreso than anything hydraulic. He said some encouraging things....like these are highly reliable tractors and that out of all the ones he's sold, he's never even seen one back in for service. (Of course, I don't know how many he's sold...might only be 2 or 3!) Anyway, I'm going to go pickup the set of filters mid-next week and get all these fluids changed...certainly can't hurt anything.

Here are all the part#'s I got:

Tranny, Hydraulic, Power Steering, and Front Axle:
- MF Permatran III (SAE 80 GL-4), ~$30

Engine oil:
SAE 10W30 for all temps

Engine oil filter - spin on:
- MF 3609410M1, $11.34

Transmission hydraulic oil filter - spin-on (back, right of 3PH, replace):
- 3709215M1, $20.77

Transmission filter - inline (inside spin-on filter pipe, clean):
3709210M91, $68.39

HST filter - inline (under right sidestep inside tranny case, clean):


HST filter - spin-on (under left sidestep, replace):
- 3709215M1, $20.77


Power steering filter (front left, clean):
3709106M91, $32.40

Air filter (left engine, clean 5x, then replace):
- 3710898M91, $52.43

Fuel filter (right engine, replace):
- 3608255M1, $10.31
