Loader New Operators, lets grease our Front End Loaders!

/ New Operators, lets grease our Front End Loaders! #21
Wanted to say thank you for this thread. I am at 9.6 hrs and just noticed a squeak in the fel tonight. I ponied up for the lincoln powerluber and am hoping I can figure out how to use it

Question... Are any of the zerks on the fel at risk of being over greased like something with a seal? I have a 2011 BX2360 with the LA243 loader. This will be my first EVER greasing of anything.

Good post...
I am very diligent about greasing my stuff including my FEL...
It's is sorta hard to get into a routine greasing it because I don't use it as much as my RFM...
Out of habit sake I grease my mower every two times I use it and pop the FEL also...
Grease is cheap...

When I can get off the tractor and still have clean clothes I know it's time to grease!

No, grease until you are happy:). The excess grease just makes a mess, and falls to the ground. Or as the other poster said, finds its way onto your clothing.

I work as a service writer and I know the importance of greasing often. When the family was finally able to buy a SCUT, I knew I wasn't going to mess around. I got a Lincoln pneumatic grease gun with the 30" hose and picked up a base of moly grease at the nearby auto parts store. The SC2450 has a FEL and backhoe standard, and we were certainly using both. At 10 hours in, I pressured washed the machine and greased it.

The FEL took grease and spat out red grease from every pin. The back hoe did the same except for one hidden zerk on the lower swing pivot, and all the pivots at the bucket. The bucket pivots just spit out water and some dirt. SO! Lesson learned, the working bits of the back hoe get greased every time it is used!

Just got my MMM yesterday, so I haven't used it yet, but i'm thinking I need a high speed bearing grease for the spindles instead of the low speed moly grease i'm using on the pivots. I could always repack the taper bearings by hand. :(

My manual says to grease it every 10 hours. Sometimes I hate getting up in the middle of a cold night, but I know it is important.
