gravelman here...looking for a subcompact.. 18 -25 hp.. bucket with quick attach if available on small machine. no cab turf tires.. i had a Mahindra max but sold it...should have kept it. Kubota dealer close by.....any advice?? general work around a 5 acres lot... rototilling..mowing... a general wheelbarrow.

Kubota's sub-compact tractors are the BX series with 18-23-25.5 horsepower. All have 9" of ground clearance.
SSQA, which Kubota calls two-lever coupler, is available on all new BX tractors with FELs. However, this industry standard fixture is heavy, reducing FEL payload capacity 15%, from 820 pounds to 699 pounds.
Kubota B2650 is a well equipped compact tractor, 26-horsepower, with 14.6" of ground clearance.
All good for rototilling..mowing... a general wheelbarrow.
B2650 more versatile than smaller BX tractors. B2650 FEL lift capacity 1,407 pounds.
If you have woods, favor the B2650 for ground clearance.

Ive been looking lately and TBH I would probably go for something in the 24-26hp range its not much more than than like the 18hp versions etc. the 18hp tractors really are just lawn tractors the bigger ones at least let you grow into something if you needed.
As for used and brand new, think it depends on how used you want and what brands, ive looked and really with tractors going used and making it worthwhile in the cost department means getting something a little older. Something new used from what I have seen cost just as much as new. Have actually seen people selling used tractors for more than I can buy them new.

A lot depends on finances. If you want to tie up cash you might want to look at used. Most SCUTS do not get many hours put on them (50 HRs/yr average). Stay away from high hour units like my 1500 Hr one as risk of expensive repairs goes up. You won't save much money though, maybe $2K.
With all the manufacturers offering 0 down/0 interest/60 months why tie up your cash.

If you go with a used or new BX, I can highly recommend Jery's Tach n Go. I bought the QA and also the adjustable forks. Researched a fair amount and was impressed with the light weight design that did not significantly reduce the lift capability. Two simple levers and quick release pins. I routinely swap out my bucket and forks without hesitation.
