Well my wife ordered me the triple bagger today for our upcoming anniversary. It should be here Thursday. Hopefully I'll be done dealing with left behind clippings. I'm wondering if I need to leave the mulching blades on or switch back to the stock ones?

The mulching blades with their shorter sails won't create enough lift to get the clippings up and into the bagger. The blades originally installed are the best ones for use with the bagger. Supposedly this bagger has no blower, which is unheard of on triple blade decks; likely due to the extreme discharge velocity this mower has.

I got the bagger and tried it out tonight. I think it's great! No more clumps of grass from mulching and always trying to find the perfect spot to shut the blades off because a huge pile of grass would be left behind. Also when mulching you can't back up without leaving a huge pile of grass behind too. Also when using the bagger there is hardly any excess grass blowing on me or the mower. Clean up after mowing was a breeze when using the bagger. I can't believe I have never gotten a bagger before. It was a breeze to install as well. Part of my lawn had just had the sprinklers run also and I was worried the wet grass wouldn't go up the shoot very well. There was zero issues.

I currently own a Deere 345 with a 54" deck. The Kawasaki FD series water cooled engine has almost 1200 hrs. The electrical system is tempermental. I decided to replace it with a tractor mower using a 48" deck. I only have the 54" deck on the Deere because I bought it used with 625 hrs at an excellent price. The Deere X500 series (K72 tranny) starts at $6,000. The X380 is $4400 with a K58 tranny. I wanted green paint!
The 345 has the K66 tranny and is also used to pull a Brinly plow and cultivator. Thanks to the information on this forum I bought ($2999.99 plus tax!) a GT48 DXLS yesterday. The dealer is ordering the sleeve hitch, but I'm not going to install it until the end of the break-in period.

How are you still finding these limited run models?

Do any of you know what rear transaxle is in this, is it a heavier built unit than my Hydro-Gear G730?

While I am shopping a SCUT, I also want to get a new GT for around the house for my wife and son to be able to happily (yea, right....) help.

My main yard portion is 15-17 degrees, about 3 acres, and I have 3 long banked areas that are 32 degrees. My current Craftsman has been a trooper for 550 hours, but I am thinking that I might wish to dump it before the hydro dies (they always do on my property) and reclaim some money to go towards the newer unit. This Husqvarna may be the heavy duty beast to have if it is built with the near "unobtainium" level engine/transaxle parts.

Don't know much about the hydrogear but the gt48 has the TuffTorq K66.

I did the first oil change yesterday and it was very simple. But they should give a plastic tube that is about 4" longer.
