It started snowing here about 11:30 a.m. yesterday, and just one or two minutes after noon, we lost the DirecTV satellite signal. My wife said the snow needed to be cleaned off the satellite dish (on the roof, of course) but I told her I figured I could do without TV for a few hours.:laughing:

We had satalite TV once at my old house. Every time it got cloudy, or too windy we'd lose reception. Never mind once it started snowing or raining....

Guess your latitude makes a difference. I have had DirecTV and Dish for almost 15 years in several locations south of the mason dixon line and have only had reception issues twice. Both times the storms were miles away and my local weather was sunny and clear. I have had great reception even during tropical storms dumping 3+ inches per hour on me.
I wouldn't have a choice even if my reception was bad. No cable options in my area.

It's not unusual for us to lose the DirecTV satellite signal during heavy rain or heavy snow. Cable service is available, but when my mother was in the nursing home one town east of us, they had this same cable company and they had lots more trouble and lots more outages with that cable company than we've ever had with the satellite.

Funy thing, i read this, and was watching some tv today, then went to watch the DVR then when it switched back to satelite it could not find the signal. I go out and look and it has about 1/4" of ice/snow mix on it. Now it snowed sunday early mourning here but just really started melting today. But anyway this was the first problem i had since the snow fell? It was there the whole time and melted a little monday and refroze but the bigger thaw came today and about 2-3 is when i had my problem?? Good thing is my dish is on a pole in the yard and i just wiped the accumulation off and got back my signal.
