Snow New Redneck Satellite Dish De-Icer

   / New Redneck Satellite Dish De-Icer #21
When I loose signal due to snow it means that I need the ladder and have to shovel the roof.
We often get 3-4 ft accumulations on the roof that hides the antenna, depending on wind direction.

What seems to work for many is to drape the sat antenna with a large garbage bag as snow and sleet won't stick to plastic and if freezing rain, a simple shake will shed the ice.

Due to my geographic position, I tend toward a ruddy complexion near my collar, so I can say, from experience, that a true redneck would have used fire or explosives. It's a nice first attempt, Stan. Try reloading some shot shells, with a light load of powder and some Uncle Ben's. Perhaps you could use a makeshift flamethrower using Aquanet hair spray and a lighter. You need more danger. :D

Had this same problem with snow/ice on the dish a few years back......got married.....now I send the wife up to clean the dish......she also brings up more beer when she's putting the ladder away. Great little gal.......too bad she lost all those teeth when the mule kicked her.....still real pretty....just can't whistle like she used to. It's OK though......don't worry 'bout us!:)
