thank you crash, by cutting the pipe in a c shape, are you recomending to weld the flats of the c to the drum.

Sorry but I don't always make things clear.

Cut the pipe in 1/2 length wise. The open side of the C would be welded to your tank. Try a short piece and see what you think. You may want to close the C up a little to gain some height. Just some thoughts. I would have to try one or 2 to see if I really liked the idea.

thanks again for clearing that up, might be worth hardfacing them too, depending on the wear, i did mean to say in the last post i dont mind answers in posts so it may help others

Good Morning Stuart,
I don't think you will need to hard face them. Would not hurt anything but unless you use it a whole lot, it should last almost forever with out it.

By the time you get all the feet welded on, it may not be as much fun as when you started.:D

Take pictures as you go. Be nice to see how you come along.
Be sure to purge your bottle before cutting or welding.
