New RTV-X1100C clunking wheel noises.

I read about the issue on another forum. I had noticed a thumping, that seemed to be in the rear, but hadn't given too much thought until I ran across that thread. It mentioned this thread so I came over here to read.

I went out this morning and jacked all four wheels up to check my machine. It has 11 hours on it. The front does not appear to have any movement yet. However both rear wheels do have play in them. Not as severe as the video but I would guess that is only a matter of time.

Messick, as to the fix for the front I am not sure how you can adjust a bushing to take play out other than replace it.

My dealer didnt realize it was a huge issue either until they started checking all their new units. I agree the front can be fixed with the right size bushings and shims but the back is just plain weak. There should be no play in anything front or back and at best it should be thousandths of an inch.
we've got some feelers out on this. If there is a real systemic problem here, I'd trust that it will be addressed quickly and properly. The RTV is too important of a product for Kubota to not address things. We've got 20+ of these out and have not run into this yet.

I dont see how the front end can be fixed with just an adjustment??? The A arm literally slides forward and back at least a quarter inch....This will effect bushing wear and tire wear and will never let anything stay aligned with one another.
well that was quick. Word is that its a simple adjustment in the front end. not a big deal at all.

this is one of the headaches we have with the internet. When people come here so quickly, it does not allow time for information to work its way through the official channels. Kubota was made aware of this thread, and the staff in Ohio are now engaged.

Try the front again....if you look at where the control arm is bolted to the frame its slides back and forth on the bolts and thats what the clunk noise is. You may have to push and pull kinda hard.

Jlbota I agree from what I look at on our unit looks like either new Size A arms or a bandaid with shims and bushings on the front and a new piece altogether on the rear.

Thanks so much for posting when you did jlbota I was going to buy real soon and will wait now you saved me a lot of down time and headache. Sorry it didn't work out for you on your unit but it's nice to see the dealer stepping up and taking it back.

Hopefully they get this fixed ASAP and we can once again enjoy the peace of mind that comes with owning a kubota product.

Thank you

He is loading it up now as I type....I honestly hate to give it up because it really is a nice unit.
I agree Kubota is a great product but i had no desire to be a guinea pig for the next 6 months while they work it out. I am not paying that kind of money for something that is that wrong. I can handle a minor issue but to me this isnt minor at all and may take some time to fix.
I cant say enough about my dealer because he really stepped up and took care of me first. I will definitly deal with them again in the future. I think most dealers would have said "well thats what the warranty is for" and just let me deal with the headache.
I sure hope they do fix the problem quick.

I find it kind of interesting that Kubota had to be made aware of this thread. With technology the way it is, I would think that someone would monitor the major forums (TBN, NTT, etc.) to see what people are saying about their products. Maybe it is too overwhelming or not worth their time? I know at work, we have triggers set up so when certain keywords are mentioned in a news article, for instance, someone in the communications department gets a notification. We (employees) get an e-mail on a regular basis with links to those news articles.

Wow!!
If that's the case then hey kubota your RTV X is Junk!! Junk!! Junk!! Key word enough.

Just kidding love my kubota's and love the new RTV X I know they will make it right. When it's fixed I will be at the dealer signing papers for mine. Lots of key words here

I was going to upgrade to the new model but I think I will wait and see how this plays out. Theses kind of things usually don't get taken care of until the next year on the production run. If there really is that much play that they clunk then it will cause premature wear on all the parts. hopefully just a mistake on a few of them. Probably will be hard to get information on this too.

I looked at some old ones that had been traded in, or that neighbors had with 500 - 1000 hrs on them and there is movement in the old style too, but I couldn't find any that had failed. The bigger issue was if they had been maintained. Most of the areas you are looking at have grease fittings on them which should minimize any wear if you take the time to give them a shot now and then. It's not an indy race car.
