New shop started

Well it is time to build the toy/tool barn.

This is my humble shop site
Scott's Shop

So the barn is 50x60. The rear metal shop is about 25x30. Above that metal shop will be the wood shop. The rest of the space will go floor to rafters, all open (for automotive work etc). Rear right corner behind beam is welding and fab. Upper woodshed will have stair and a garage door for access to use forklift to lift larger projects and tools up there. We will have 3phase and 110/220.

I just finished the shell of my new shop/barn. 50x70 slab, with 50x50 enclosed (10' wings on each side, like a patio). I'm getting ready to add the electrical in the next couple weeks.

Beautiful. Ya my patio will be in the back. Slab should be in this week. I am looking a professional installed epoxy on floor. 1 quote was a bit crazy. Time will tell if I just live w concrete!

Don't know where you are located, but are you planning to put in radiant heating?

Wow, you guys are making my 1000 sq ft shop seem small. And here I thought I was in hog heaven like Eddie's Oscar.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you think youll have into it when complete? Ill be doing all my own work, and have a 40x60x16 planned out and looks like I can get it done for around 35k. But its a red iron kit, you're going ultra fancy.

2000 cu yards of fill and foundation/grading is about 80k
material was around 125k
electric and service is about 25k (300 ft run from pole, trenching etc) ton of 6awg cable in shops for 3phase etc so pricy
builder/labors/subs etc 100k

Sounds like your pricing is on par with building a house. Of course, you will have a shop nicer then most houses!!!!

Speaking of home building... the school fees for new construction are assessed at $21 a square foot... adds up fast.

The last time I ran a shop design by plan review the planner said no as it looked too much like a home and I was installing a toilet... so it was a no go.
