I have a question for the group... How long after your car's warranty expires will the calls stop for the purchase of extended warranty?

Funny. I’ve never received any calls - but, we get a ton of mail. It’s disguised as something important (like a recall) but it’s just trying to sell.

Given this thread there must be lots of $$$$ in those extended warranties.

The ones sold via phone solicitation are 100% profit. Either it's a complete hoax or from a fly by night company that will deny all claims or be out of business when claims come in.

I get very few telemarketing calls on my cell phone. Perhaps, because it's OFF except when I make a call. The crap I DO get is on this computer. "Your anti-virus or extended auto protection program is about to expire". You would think - after several rejections - they would give up. But NO, they just keep coming.

I received a text about a month ago on the weekend asking if I was available for a call. Thinking it was one of my customers with a problem I said sure.

Never got a call and now I am getting tons of text with links to sex dating sites. I have blocked over 50 of the senders and the keep coming. Got one at 2:00 this morning. I wish I could find that SOB! I would sleep well in life knowing he wouldn’t be able to bother anyone else!

K5LWQ - I get my share of the assorted sex emails also. I must have made the mistake of opening one - long ago. I just delete without opening and they will eventually fade away.

Most all spam is on an "auto nag" software system. After so many refusals they will usually go away.

I don’t get the emails. It is text messages on my phone. The mistake I made was replying to the first one thinking it was a customer. Now they know it is a working number. I do delete them without opening them.

Makes me even more reluctant to ever get a smart phone...seems they're waay more susceptible to various types of spam than either landlines or email. We'll get a few phonecalls of dubious origin (don't answer unless I recognize the caller), almost no spam email. Maybe my email provider's spam filters are doing their job.

As oosik noted, I do get annoying pop-ups from free software I've installed (anti-virus or other anti-malware mostly). Guess that's just the price you pay for "free" versions. Not gonna bite and get the paid version, free seems to work good enough, and the really nasty attacks seem to be able to bypass even the fancy versions.
