$160 a tire to replace what I got http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?width=8.75&ratio=0&diameter=16.5 or $175ish for a new E range tire on a new 8 lug rim http://www.easternmarine.com/12-thru-16-Trailer-Tire-Rim-RADIAL/ I expect they don't promote D range tires on 8 lug rims. I'll probably go with the new rims suggestion when it comes to that, only a hair more. Will think about downgrading to a D range for the better ride at my load capacities. Looks like I might have to downgrade my great deal to just a good deal.
Fallon;
Easy to spend someone else's money but, I would stay with LR E tires. Why limit your trailer for unknown future needs just to save a few $$? Your best economy will be switching to 16" wheels and E tires. Don't think you would be able to tell the difference on "ride" between 'D' and 'E' tires. The extra load safety factor is worth the small incremental cost.
You still got a great deal as you will get 6-7 years out of tires regardless of how many miles you put on trailer. You were going to put new tires on it at some point as it would be foolish for seller to put new tires on it for an auction. Now your tires won't be a worry. We have a 24' GN trailer with LR E tires that was purchased new in 2007. It gets used 4-5 times a years so tires had, at most 1000 miles of use. Last fall blew out 3 of 4 tires on 3 short trips with way less than max load hauling B2710 Kubota with FEL and MMM. Changing tires on the side of the road is a big PIA. After 3rd tire I gave up and replaced all, including spare with new.
My 2cents worth. Good luck!
