New Tractor

Getting new tractor Saturday. It's a brand new 790 with FEL, weight box and loaded tires. I'm new to this board and want to say HI to everyone. I have been reading alot of posts and see that there is a very knowledgable group here. I'm not new to Deere products. I actually bleed green. I have owned a 1050, a 1952 model 60 that I restored and a 1947 model BR. I have also worked for a dairy farmer and have run the big toys also.

Hey congrats on the new shiney green tractor. I just traded my 2210 for a 4110 it's in the shop getting the power beyond put on tomorrow. What do you have for implements? I see you have 5 acres to take care of. I have just a little under that much. 2 acres I put in soybean this year. I maintain two long gravel driveways and still have a ton of landscaping to do.

I have 5 acres, half of which are woods. I don't have any implements yet but will acquire a rotary mower and a york rake this winter. I will use this tractor to move firewood and snow as well as maintaining my driveway.I may do some odd jobbing as well.

The BR project was sold about 10 years ago. I ran out of time and $$ to complete that one. I am a 2 cylinder nut and will eventually own another one. I kind of have my eyes set on finding an 830 diesel and using it as a pulling tractor / parade tractor.

Congrats on that nice new 790! I've had one for two years now...nice machines!
You'll probably want a back blade for snow removal. I've a 72" blade..the 790 pulls that quite nicely.
If you haven't asked the dealer to weld bucket hooks on the loader...well, those hooks are pretty convenient. I have three...one in the center (light stuff) and two outboard for heavier loads.
If you plan to use the loader on anything other then loose materials, a toothbar is quite handy too....especially with 500-600 pounds of sand in that weight box (which makes a big difference, as I recently found out).

I'll get some pictures posted after this weekend. I will also post pictures of the 1952 model 60 I restored. I also have tons of pictures of older Deeres at rest and at work. I used to belong to the RI two cylinder club. As far a a blade goes, I'm going to fabricate a rack to put in place of the bucket so I can mount a snowplow to the FEL. I'm not happy with the Deere plow and don't think Curtis has a blade to fit the 300 loader although I'm going to check with them. Secondhand snowplows are easy to find here (meaning cheap). Up here in New Hampshire we get our share of snow (110" last year), I was moving snow around with my 1962 International Backhoe but that rig has been a struggle to keep running.

Per your blade for snow, here is a pic of how I did it, and a second-hand plow would work too. Some fabricating to make the quick tach that I hook into the MMM mower front mount. Held on with two 3/4" bolts.

Do you by chance have any other pictures of this setup? I kind of like the direction you went in. I'm concerned about shock and vibration on the loader arms with a FEL plow.

Isn't that picture of Trev's tractor from a year or so ago?
I thought that plow was OEM Deere...

The OEM Deere plow is black (this is a 7' Western Plow) and is 6' I believe.
The one shown is one I put together.
I will dig around in the archives for the quick attach pics I fabricated and posted some time ago. If I don't find them, I will post again, but don't want to load duplicates if not necessary. A couple of TBN members have made something similar, and one I remember was an improvement over mine.

In addition to the Meyer plow posted in previous reply, the attached pics show the quick attach with primer paint and some detail of the parts.

I built a wood model to get the configuration right and then took that model to a welder/fabricator to build it.

It's here. The tractor arrived at 0830 today. One of the dealerships mechanics delivered it. He went over the tractor and showed me how to disconnect the loader. As soon as he left I went out back and pushed up my mulch pile. As soon as I got done with that I went back to my live fire drill. We got to train in an old house then burn it to the ground. We were almost done with that when one end of the house fell into the driveway in and blocked 1 engine in the driveway. So I just had to go and get the tractor and push the debris aside and clear out the driveway. Next the Chief asked if I could pull over the chimney for him. We wrapped a chain around the base of the chimney and I set the tractor in 4wheel drive, stepped on the rear diff. locks and pulled the chimney down. I'll post pictures of the tractor tomorrow
