New trailer

I found a simular trailer at T.S for 2.5K is this a good or comparible price?
for the Brake controller, on my Boat trailers I have the trailer brakes that are controlled by actuator, is this the same for these type trailers?

Are you talking surge brakes where the controller is on the tongue of the trailer and pressure is applied by the vehicle slowing down? If so, no. We are talking about a little electronic box that sends an electric signal via a wire to the trailer to apply the magnetic brakes.

Thanks. Yes that is what I was talking about. I was wondering if they made such a thing for this type trailer.

I've heard of utility trailers (Uhaul) having surge brakes, but most I know are electric as they work so much nicer/smoother/better. As far as converting over to a surge system, I'm sure it could be done, but I would bet it would be pretty expensive. I think surge brakes are a different type of system in that they actually apply fluid pressure (similar to how a car does) to the brakes. Hopefully someone that knows better than I do for sure.

I paid 2500 for mine out the door tax title license everything.

Looks like this brake controller will be a little bit of a pain to install but the nice thing is it's a one time deal than i'm good to go.

Thanks fro the links and help I'll print out that PDF you linked me too that has the walk through on how to install it. I'll report back on how it went after the weekend.

BTW, Chris, I did stop at Radio Shack last night and picked up mostof the stuff (LEDs, switchs, and project boxes) to build a testers for the truck & trailer wirings. I had picked the ends up a couple of weeks ago at Menards. Now I just need to get some wire for the truck side tester.

Use mine at least once a week. I also make one with 6 lights and the male plug to test the vehicle side. Just plug it in the rear of the truck and it has 20' of wire so I can sit in the the driver seat and go through the checks. Use it even more.

I believe the Dodge is still Plug and Play. F-I-L just installed one on his '05 Dodge 2500.
