You have a good memory... time marches on... the kids I use to bounce on my knee are thinking about college options... where did the time go???

All good kids so far... so it is nice to be able to help out.

Was disappointed to learn the 4 cylinder Tacoma is no longer available... these were very reliable little trucks...

Back in the day I had a LUV, Datsun and a Currier... all gave very good service... all manual transmissions... none had A/C... just basic.

One nice feature was simply being able to reach over the side of the bed to load... required no effort what-so-ever...

Brother's Super-Duty comes with a ladder to get into the bed...

Thankfully our 2010 F-150 came with the tailgate ladder and grab bar. When I had to put on new windshield wiper blades I was glad I had the 6 foot step ladder in the bed because I would not have been able to replaced it myself standing on the ground.

The "required" add-on stuff today can get expensive. An aluminum Bakflip bed cover takes most of a $1000 bill today if you want a new one. One guy was talking about dropping another $6,000 into his new PU.

It is automated on my new Mazda.

The article you referenced says some cars monitor oxygen levels in the interior. All makers I have read about were monitoring or planning to monitor CO2 levels, not O2 levels. High CO2 levels are more likely to affect your well-being, and may be easier to detect.

I did not know some cars have the Re Cir button removed but automated.

Some of the old R12 systems could pretty near flash-freeze a side of beef if you wound 'em right out....

I suspect that some of this is being done to compensate for the lower capacity of some modern AC systems.

That, and if they programmed it right, automating ReCirc may help save some people from themselves....

Best buy is a mid option level truck. You should be able to get at least $10K off MSRP this summer and much more with special offers. So $35-40 K gets a real nice gas truck, fancier than what you could buy in most top end truck a few years ago.

I appreciate all the people who buys the new trucks, if nobody ever buys new trucks then there won’t be a steady stream of trucks for the used market.

But the price of new trucks is still hard to wrap my head around.

I like fleet trucks, vinyl seats, rubber floors, radio, 4x4, manual locks and windows, A/C with good heat and I’m happy.

05 4x4, 6 speed, V10 new engine in 2012, 13,000 GVW, 165k miles, brake controller, coil front end, can tow 13,300lbs and I paid $4100 for it, cash money and no loans. A new version would be over 40k and is only available in automatic.

Just looked it up and according to Fords Tow Chart, the 2018 truck tows about the same as my 05.

2018 F350 Super cab, DRW, 6.2 v8, 4x4, 8ft bed.
3.73 gears it will tow 12,300lbs, GCWR 20,000lbs
4:30 gears it will tow 15,800lbs, GCWR 23,500lbs

My 05 is rated to tow 13,300lbs with 4:10 rear end and a GCWR of 20,500lbs, so the new gas trucks haven’t improved much, maybe the diesel trucks have. The automatic v10 truck was rated for 14,300lb towing and GCWR of 22,500lbs with 4:10 rear end.

I did the build a truck on the F150 also, 38k MSRP for a XL, 4x4, 3.5 ecoboost, 10 speed auto truck.

According to the tow chart the 4x4, supercab, F150, 8ft bed with the 3.5 eco boost engine, 3.73 rear end can tow 11,500lbs conventional and a GCWR of 17,100lbs

The 6.2, 4x4, F350 dually, Auto was 41k lol

The F150 is much lighter with the aluminum body and small engine so it payload would be maximized compared to a heavy superduty, but I bet the superduty will be much more stable with that load and won’t overheat the trans on long trips. I would assume they tested the eco boost in the superduty trucks, maybe they didn’t last idk.

The chart doesn’t show a 4:10 rear, on the axle chart it shows a electronic locking 4:10 rear is available.

The single cab, 8ft bed 2wd truck is the one with highest tow capacity. I would assume that truck with 4:10 rear would be around 13,300lbs.

In 3:73 the highest was 12,000lb conventional
