I got my 86" from costco with free delivery for $900. I did need a friend to mount it. Not because it was to heavy, but because there were only specific points you could lift from safely without damaging it.

I did not know, until some of the responses here and on another site where I asked this question, that Crutchfield is a local store. Their headquarters is here in Charlottesville. I looked online and they get very high marks from their employees as a great place to work. So I bought from them. I drove into town this afternoon and bought it in person so someone there will get credit for the sale. It will be delivered in two days. Very easy, very helpful. We watch movies, some TV series, and some internet streaming stuff. I have to get the mount up tonight or tomorrow. I bought the most heavy duty mount that I could find.

Sony XR85X90L. Stood in front of it half a dozen times. It’s the balance between cost and going with a higher end more luxury item than I usually do. I ended up spending about twice my original budget. I did more research than I wanted to do and learned more about TV’s than I need to know. You don’t need to spend this much money to get a really nice TV. I saw models in the $799 range at 75 inches , that blew me away. But I went down the rabbit hole and it came down to this model and the TCL QM8. I saw the Q 7 in person and even though the qm8 gets rave reviews, nobody had one for me to look at. The TCL would have been $200 less than the sony before the superbowl but I waited. And they went up then back down. One of the nice things about crutchfield. They have the same thing showing on all the TV’s at the same time. Best buy has different stuff based on brand and that makes it hard to do a side by side comparison. I didnt buy speakers. I expect that I will get a sound bar later. But since I’m going from watching movies mostly on my phone to a big TV, I think I will be ok.

The Brand is Sony. I have a Best Buy and a Crutchfield local to me. I could also just order straight from Sony. I'm trying to think of a reason to buy from one of the stores. The new models come out in a month or so and I don't expect the prices to be better. I have a model in mind that I like. Getting things delivered, undamaged, up here has been a trial. That kind of has me leaning toward the Sony website. I doubt Best Buy or Crutchfield would take it back if there was an issue, I think once they walk out the door, you have to go thru repair services .
How do you know when the new models come out?

How do you know when the new models come out?
Last
year, the first articles I could find were dated March 1 with info on new models. I have been watching review videos with somenpeople who were invited to private showings of Sony’s newnproducts and had to sign NDA’s. Mid april is the estimate from them. Each company does their own thing. I am sure the new model will be better than what I have but it will also be more expensive

I bought a 65" from Best Buy got home unpacked and the screen was cracked in one corner.
Took it back, they saw the crack and refund no problem the box had no damage.

It was a Fire TV and they had no more in stock and didn't know when they would get any new ones.
Ordered one from Amazon 3 day delivery same price.
I will never ever buy another Fire TV but that's another story.

Expensive is a relative term. TV’s have gotten bigger and better and cheaper. You can get a 4k tv for cheap these days. And they look really good.
The last TV I bought was 2007 or 8. I cant remember if it was a 720p or a 1080p. It was 46 inch rear projection LED Sony and I got a very good deal on it, for about $1500. I bought it because my wife was about to start a long series of chemo and Radiation and I wanted to make the house more comfortable and giver her some diversion. I am cheap but that seemed like a good way to spend money at the time. The first thing we watched was blue ray dvd of Transformers. It was astounding. Now , it would be considered sub par.
