They do, the chains are side specific, when they're thrown out, they pretty much lock together in a straight line because of the way they're made and the centrifugal force. You have to think, the drive wheel is only 4" or so in diameter and they run on the surface of the inner sidewall almost to the tread so the surface speed of the tire is quite high running against the small drive wheel.I don't think the tire speed would be sufficient to throw the chains out and far enough under the tires,
