What do you think Kubota did with all the old seats we had to turn in...

I kept mine. Dealer didn't want it.

Makes a nice garage seat, actually...I had a rolling base and hydraulics from a previous christmas gift and it had some retarded motorcycle saddle that rode up your crotch instead of an actual seat. Popped that stupid thing off and (temporarily) mounted my old tractor seat the same night I put the new seat on my tractor.

Just need to make an adapter flange to make the bolt holes line up before I can put my full girth on the assembly. But it LOOKS good anyway.

For the seat removal on my BX 24 I also needed a 12mm for the "extra" lock nut on single center bolt. All the rest were 13mm.

Took me about 10 minutes to change, and wow what a difference! Much more comfortable, and I don't get that squeeze on the boys when mowing from sliding down the seat.

What a surprise to find a new seat awaiting me at my door this evening. After going round & round with my dealer for well over 3 months (they still haven't recieved any), I emailed Carvers last Thursday, ordered the seat from them on Friday and recieved it the following Tuesday. Kudo's to Carver Equipment Co (a TBN site sponsor btw). I expect I'll be doing some more business with them on down the road.

Took maybe 20 minutes to swap them out on my 04 BX23 and like has been said, the improvement is akin to night & day. DEFINITE improvement.
It gives better lower back support and raises the legs ever so slightly above ones rear, no more feeling of sliding forward now. I'll be giving it an extensive field testing on Fri & Sat, but I expect it'll be well worth the price :D

I still have my old seat too, don't know why some of you guys had to turn them back in?? I'm going to try and install mine on the BH, now THAT is a bad seat! :D

I just picked up a seat for my BX2200 at the dealer for $20.00 & the old seat. I had called last week after reading this thread, and the dealer had them in stock. He said that the program was not designed for the older BX's. I reasoned that after spending $50,000+ on their products, Kubota could afford to sell me a seat under "Customer Satisfaction".

The dealer said that Kubota allowed them to re-sell the old seat, to recover any costs associated with the seat swap. I figured that it would just end up in my garage, gathering dust, then I read the post about using it as a rolling shop seat, go figure.

I installed it, and adjusted it higher by adding 1" blocks to the lower seat stops. The seat now fits the contours of my back, giving added support at a higher level to my back.

If the seats are still available to you, it is a worthwhile upgrade.

I did the same thing with an old shop chair, but it looks ridiculous tilting forward. Imagine a half-cocked ejection seat.

I sent my tractor in for warranty work on the hazard lights and my first 50 hour service. I asked about the seat upgrade and was lucky my dealer bought one seat for every tractor they'd sold. Too bad they didn't call people about it.

Anyway, they gave it to me for $30 and installed it while it was there. What a difference.

Dealer had the tractor less than 24 hours to fix the lights, install my new front mount snowblower, do the service and swap the seat. Not bad!

Finally got my new seat, and yes, it's great. I also decided to use my old seat as a garage stool, but made the mistake of removing the "trim" to try to smooth a wrinkled spot. Big mistake. Not only did I not fix the wrinkle, but now I can't get the darned thing back on. The trim strip has a bunch of spikes that help hold the vinyl in place, I don't see how the mfg got the thing together in the first place.

Oh well, still happy with the new seat!

Got my new seat! I sent an email to Kubota complaining about the way they went about this program. Next thing I know I get a call from my dealer saying he got a copy of my email to Kubota, and happens to suddenly have a couple of seats available if I want one.

Now my question. I see most of you say it's a 5 min job to replace. Can someone post the procedure? Obviously I'm an idiot.

That's a good question. I didn't take any pictures, but there are 4 13mm (1/2 inch) nuts you need to remove to get the seat and seat housing off the tractor. You will probably find it helpful to release the seat via the handle under the back of the seat and tilt it forward so the back of the seat is hanging over the steering wheel. I wish I had done that before I dropped one of the bolts into the guts of my tractor. As you remove the 4 nuts, carefully remove the bolts so you don't lose them. That should free the seat. Turn it over, and remove the seat from the seat housing. I can't remember if they were bolts or nuts, but a socket wrench will remove them quickly. Mount the new seat on the seat housing, then reinstall the housing and seat on the tractor.
